Annual Athletic Meet 2018-19

The Annual Athletic Meet of the College was held on 25  _ 26 October 2018 with the aim of nurturing sporting talents and to inculcate the spirit of healthy competition among the students.

Inaugural Ceremony

The Inaugural function commenced with the hoisting of the College Flag by Dr Saji C B, Principal, followed by torch relay. The Guest of Honour of the occasion Mr Anthaf P U, an alumnus of Vidya and a member of the  Kerala Team for Ranji Trophy, handed over the torch to Aathira Ganesh J, Captain of the College Badminton Team which secured championship in the KTU E Zone Championship 2018; she handed over the torch to Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Captain of the College Football Team which secured championship in the KTU E zone football tournament 2018; the torch was then handed over to Sarath Peter, member of the KTU Chess Team and then to Abhildev C who represented the KTU Netball Team in the All India Inter University Championship and finally to Denna Rose Francis, member of the KTU Table Tennis team. Denna Rose lighted the “Annual Athletic Flame”. This was followed by the March Past of athletes which was followed by the receipt of Salute and declaration of “meet open” by the Guest of Honour. Sarath J B, General Captain, Student Senate, took the Oath on behalf of all the Athletes gathered. Department Heads, teaching and non-teaching staffs and students attended the function.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering received the best performance trophy for March Past.

Competitions

As many as 11 events were held in Women category and 12 events in Men category and a total 500 students competed in the various track and field events.

Individual Champion (Men)

Mr Aswin T R of CE Dept was adjudged the position of ‘Individual Champion’ by securing 2 individual gold medals in Men section.

Individual Champion (Women)

The women individual championship awarded to Reshma N S and Amoolya K Sudhakaran of CE Dept, by wining gold medals.

Team Championships

The CE Dept and the ME Dept shared the Men Championship with 63 points. The CE Dept also secured the Women Championship with 100 points.
