Distribution of paper bags near Amala Hospital

A team of NSS Volunteers of Vidya distributed paper bags in the houses near the Amala Hospital, Thrissur, to create awareness about the dangers of using plastic bags on 30.12.2017.

 


Distribution of food packets at Sakthan Bus Stand

As part of community work, a team of NSS volunteers from Vidya distributed food packets to the needy people in and around Sakthan Bus Stand, Thrissur, on 29.12.2017. The volunteers distributed as many as 64 food packets. This social service gave the volunteers an opportunity to realize the hardships of people living with disabilities and poverty.

 


Cleaning Athani Railway Station premises

NSS Volunteers of Vidya did a cleaning campaign in the surroundings of Athani Level Cross as a part of Nagaram Nirmalam Project on 30.12.2017. Volunteers cut the grass that was blocking the path leading to the Level Cross and that was causing great inconvenience to people who pass through it on a regular basis.


Visit to Karunya Old Age Home

A group of NSS Volunteers from Vidya visited Karunya Old Age Home at Perigottukara on 29.12.2017. They celebrated New Year and Christmas by distributing cakes to the inmates of the Home. Volunteers spent time with the inmates and distributed meal packets also. As part of a cleaning drive, volunteers cleaned the open terrace of the building.


Cleaning of Vadakkunnathan Kshetra Maidan

As part of Nagaram Nirmalam project, on 29.12.2017,  a group of NSS volunteers from Vidya cleaned the premises of the Vadakkunathan Kshetra Maidan, where the prestigious Kerala State School Kaloltsavam is going to be held during January 2018 . The cleaning activities were guided by Mr. Prasad (Health Inspector) and Ms. Sindhu (Kudumbasree Unit Head). Volunteers were provided with the necessary tools required for cleaning.  Volunteers cleaned and collected the plastics littered on the ground and disposed them off properly.


Cleaning of Government Hospital, Kunnamkulam

The NSS Volunteers of Vidya conducted a cleaning programme at Government Hospital, Kunnamkulam, on 22 & 25.12.2017. The programme was inaugurated by Ms. Jancy, Nursing Superintendent of the Hospital.  As many as 35 volunteers participated in the programme.


Visit to Thanal Orphanage, Kalathode

A group of NSS Volunteers from Vidya visited “Thanal Orphanage” at Kalathode on 21.12.2017. There were about 226 persons including psychiatric patients, mentally retarded people, old aged people and orphans as inmates of the Orphanage. Volunteers spent time with the inmates of Orphanage and handed over note books and story books for the children staying in the Orphanage.


Visit to VAIGA

NSS volunteers of Vidya visited “VAIGA 2017 – International Exhibition and Workshop”  at Kerala Agricultural University, Vellanikkara on 28-29.12.2017. As many as 222 volunteers visited the exhibition. The exhibition showcased many innovative technical products which were very informative for aspiring farmers and engineers. Coconut dehusker, one-hand operated bush cutter, family farming tiller which  can  do  ten  functions, mini-power weeder with petrol engine are some among them. Apart from giant agricultural products, the expo included other hand crafted products from agricultural related articles. Statues and wall hangings made out of the husk and shell of coconut were some of the other attractions of the expo. There was a display of pure organic agricultural products including bee products, neera products and banana products, etc.
