Vidya personnel attend meet on AI and deep learning at Bennett University

Mr Suresh Lal, Finance Director, VICT and Dr Ramani Bai V (HoD, CSE Dept and Head of Vidya Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research (V-CAIR)) participated in the first Associate Meet of “AI and Deep Learning: Skilling and Research Initiative” on mission LeadingIndia.ai on 26 May 2018 at Bennett University, Greater Noida, Delhi.

Mr. Amitabh Kant, CEO of Niti Ayog, Govt of India, was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Other dignitaries who were present were Prof Pushpak Bhattacharya, Director, IIT Patna and head of National Committee on AI, and Prof R S Shevgaonkar, Ex-Director, IIT Delhi and VC, Bennett University. Prof Padmaja Ruparel, President, Indian Angel Network, was the guest of honor.

Dr Deepak Garg welcomed the participants for the first Associate Meet and detailed the operational aspects of the initiative. Also, he handled the question-answer session with the participants regarding this initiative.

The program started with introduction and interaction with the founders of three different show case start-up companies, namely,  (1) Agri & Health Tech, (2) Analytics, Security & Enterprise AI and (3) MarTech, Fin Tech & HR Tech. The young entrepreneurs exhibited their work profiles and invited collaboration from academia. This was followed by a video conferences with Mr Anirudh Koul, Senior Deep Learning Data Scientist, Director of SeeingAI, Microsoft, San Francisco and Mr Prashant Dhingra, Lead, AI & Machine Learning at Google, Seattle, USA.

The participants took tour of Bennett University, Startup Hatchery and Supercomputing Facility with DGX-1 V100. Mr Ajay Batra, Director, CIE, BU, handled the panel discussion on Synergy between Startups-Corporates-Investors-Academia. The program was concluded at 4.15pm with a talk by Dr Deepak Garg and team.
