The 8-day AICTE Induction Programme for B Tech freshers successfully completed

The eight-day AICTE Induction Programme organised under the guidance, supervision and coordination of Vidya’s Trainers’ Club Sameekaha for newly admitted B Tech students was successfully completed on 30 July 2019. The programme was formally inaugurated in a grand function held the Auditorium on 22 July 2019. The content and delivery of the various activities conducted as part of the  Induction Programme were as per the guidelines and stipulations laid by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the statutory body under Ministry of Human Resource Development responsible for proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education and management education system in India. Inaugural ceremony

The inauguration of the AICTE Induction Programme for the 17th batch of B Tech students of Vidya was held on 22 July 2019. Apart from the customary  felicitation talks by the VICT and College officials, there was a special talk on “How to Become a Good Parent” by Mr C K Suresh, Chairman, ATMA Foundation for the benefit of the parents. After the inaugural ceremony, all students were taken to the respective Dets for an introduction to the personnel of the Dept and also to the various activities of the Dept.

Outline of the activities

For the purpose of effective implementation of the programme, the entire set of students were divided into ten batches. The sessions on Bhavishya and Proficiency modules were conducted batch wise. The sessions on Human Values modules were handled by the respective Group Tutors. Each session of the programme was of a duration of 1.5 hours.

The various sessions of the programme included the following:

  1. Bhavishya Package by ICT Academy of Kerala: Each batch had a session by ICT Academy of Kerala on topics like transition from school to college, day at college and experience, the complete professional, 21st century learning, creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, communication and collaboration, ICT literacy and life skills.
  2. Universal Human Values: Students were trained on various human values through experiential learning.
  3. Creative Arts: During the period from Day 2 to Day 6 students were engaged in sessions on creative arts sessions on areas like drama, Smule/Dubsmash/Musically, short film and skit.
  4. Proficiency Module in English: The proficiency modules in English were intended to help students a peripheral idea for the development of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills of the students. The sessions were handled by external resource persons.
  5. Proficiency module in Maths: The proficiency module in mathematics were intended to help the students  in the transition from school to engineering level. The subject dealt was mainly calculus. The sessions were handled by teachers of the Applied Science Dept of the College and external resource persons.
  6. Talks by an eminent personality: During the 7th day there was a session by Fr Davis Chiramel, Chairman, Kidney Federation of India.
  7.  The creative arts presentations which are prepared by the various student groups were placed before the Sameeksha team for scrutiny before the 8th day.
