“Together Apart”

What was “Together Apart”

The MCA Dept of the College, under the banner of the Vidya MCA Dept Association (fondly called ViCA), organised a gathering of all students, faculty and staff of the Department between 10.30 am and 12.00 noon on 13 May 2020 (Wednesday) via the online platform Google Meet. The event was christened “Together Apart“, a name coined by the students.  A total of around 160 persons participated in the gathering. A Programme Committee, under the leadership of Ms Reji C Joy and Ms K S Salkala chalked out the various events to be presented in the gathering. All were thrilled and filled with excitement  about such a novel experience and they were also excited about the fact it was the MCA Dept which was organising such a programme in the College for the first time.

The faculty and staff of the Dept were initially skeptical about the effectiveness and success of the programme. But when the programme, “Together Apart“, was over by about 12.45 pm, all in the Dept were extremely happy and were on cloud nine because the programme turned out to be a great success beyond their imaginations.

A success story
The programme was a great success in terms of every component:
  • number of participants (out of a total of 200 invited participants, around 160 persons turned up)
  • variety of entertainment and other progrmmes (a live performance of Kelikottu by Renjith Krishnan (S6 MCA) and team, a live dance performance by Malavika Mohan (S6 MCA), dance performances by faculty members Ms Aparna S Balan and Ms salkala K S, and many more items)
  • quality of the programmes presented (superb skills and finesse in presentations)
  • maintenance of punctuality and discipline
Some of the faculty members observed that the programme would not have reached such high standards had they been presented in the College Auditorium!
