National Science Day (AION 2024 : Science Fest) Celebration

The programme was organized for first year B Tech students. Dr Jiby Jose (Professor,HOD, AS Dept) welcomed the gathering. The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Dr Saji C B (Principal).

Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics), Dr Sunitha C (Vice Principal)  Heads of various departments, Faculty members, Staff and Students also joined. In the inaugural address, the Principal highlighted the achievements of Indian scientists in addressing the problems through indigenously developed solutions for space and defence applications.

School students excel in roles that combine Science and Technology at ‘VITRINE 2024’

Vidya pays attention to instill a scientific outlook and research-mindedness to enhance curiosity in science and technology among school students

The VIBE (Vidya Initiative for Better Engineering) Kunnamkulam Team showcased static and working models, which could be used for teaching and learning scientific concepts, especially for students of the HS and HSS in a science exhibition christened ‘VITRINE 2024’ hosted by Nirmala Matha Central School, East Fort Thrissur on 25 January 2024.

Vidya students communicated innovative ideas and served as a influential means of communication, and shaped a scientific, socio – economical and inventive attitude to the blooming buds. Around 1000 students from different schools visited Vidya’s pavilion that elucidated the attendees and highlighted the significance of innovative thinking with the following projects:-

2 Revivatron CPR Robot 
3 Sanitizer Dispenser 
4 Oxygen Concentrator Using PSA
5 Robot Assisted Therapy

Ms Chithira Ajeeth (Asst Prof,CE Dept) , Ms Neethu George (Asst Prof, CSE Dept) with the whole hearted support of B.Tech final year students of EEE, ECE and CE Depts attended the event. Ms Jiji P J (Asst Prof, AS Dept) co-ordinated the whole event with the help of Ms Viji Vinodan (Trade Instructor, ECE Dept) .

Vidya faculty members attended the 34th Annual Faculty Convention of ISTE Kerala section on 20 January 2024 at FISAT, Angamaly.The faculty members actively participated in a session as well christened ‘National Seminar on Emerging Technological Trends in the Era of AI’. The Annual State Faculty Convention was inaugurated by Dr Saji Gopinath (Vice Chancellor of Kerala University of Digital Sciences, Innovation and Technology (Digital University Kerala)).

CE Dept oraganizes Technical Lecture & Demonstration on Post Buckling of Composite Shells

With an aim to provide valuable insights to the Finite Element (FE) analysis of post-buckling, the Dept of Civil Engineering in association with ISTE Students’ Chapter, VAST organized a technical lecture and demonstration on “Post Buckling of Composite Shells” on 04 March 2024. Dr R Ramesh Kumar (Former Head, Honeycomb Product Development Division, VSSC) served as the resource person.

Faculty members and M Tech students of Structural engineering division of Civil departments attended the lecture. The resource person was introduced by Dr Abhilasha P S (HoD, CE Dept). The technical talk was well received by the attendees and students expressed their feedback and acknowledgment after the session. CE Dept organizes technical lecture on ‘Low Carbon and Lean Construction Technologies ‘

The Dept of Civil Engineering has been conducting several technical lectures, seminars etc to communicate various real-case scenario as effectively as possible to the students. CE Dept as a premium association activity organized a technical lecture on Low Carbon and Lean Construction Technologies on 04 March 2024.

Dr Murali Jagannathan (Asst Prof, CE Dept, Indian Institute of Technology Chennai) joined online and delivered expert talk on research opportunities in TLC2 at IIT Madras . Faculty members, Final year B Tech and M Tech students of Structural engineering division of Civil Dept attended the session. Dr Abhilasha P S (HoD, CE Dept) introduced the resource person. VSSC conducts three day session on ‘Work Life Harmony’

• Managing Stress at the Workplace
• Balancing Work and Life
• Tips for a Healthy Life Journey

Day 1:
Ms Asha T V commenced the session by addressing the prevalent issue of stress in the workplace. She emphasized the effects of stress on productivity and mental well-being. Through discussions and real-life examples, attendees gained a deeper understanding of stress triggers and learned effective coping mechanisms. Ms Asha introduced techniques such as time management, and assertive communication to empower participants to manage stress proactively. Ms Delmy David V (Asst Prof, CSE Dept) gave overall feedback on the session.

Day 2:

On the second day, Ms Asha T V discussed the crucial topic of achieving a harmonious balance between work and personal life. Drawing from her own experiences, she highlighted the importance of setting boundaries, prioritizing tasks, and allocating time for leisure activities and self-care. The importance of identifying mind relaxing activities and exercises to be included in the routine were discussed. Ms Asha encouraged participants to adopt a holistic approach, integrating professional aspirations with personal fulfilment to lead a more comfortable life. Er P K Ashokan (Chief Patron, VICT) also attended the session and gave valuable input. Ms Akhila R (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) gave overall feedback on the session.

Day 3: The final day of the session focused on promoting overall health and well-being. Ms Asha T V explained the connection between physical, mental, and emotional health, emphasizing the need for a balanced lifestyle. Participants received tips on exercise, sleep, and stress management techniques tailored to suit their busy schedules.The attendees gained valuable insights into creating sustainable habits that contribute to long-term health and vitality. Faculty members,Mr Anil Paul (Asst Prof, ME Dept),Mr Manesh D (Asst Prof, MCA) and Mr Shankar R (Asst Prof, ME Dept) gave their feedback on the talk and shared how the talk impacted them personally.

The session equipped teachers with a sense of empowerment and resilience in navigating the challenges of the modern world. Dr Saji C B (Principal) presented a memento to the speaker as a token of appreciation for the profound impact of her talk on the audience.

Vidya Academy @Oracle – INOAUG, 6th Annual Conference 2024

India Oracle APEX User Group” (INOAUG), 6th Annual Conference 2024 was held at IIT Research Park, Chennai, on Saturday, February 10, 2024. The conference began with a deep insight along with a demonstration of Oracle’s latest APEX application development platform. This is a low-code or a no-code enterprise level application development platform available along with Oracle databases with the inbuilt AI engine. Using APEX, developers can develop software at an amazingly short period with drag and drop features replacing most of the coding work.

Our institution, which is an Oracle Academy Hub member participated in this conference and partook in the parallel track exclusively for the Oracle Academy member institutions. The workshop was opened by Ms. Anuradha Sharma, Head, Oracle Academy, South Asia, included sessions by leading experts from education domain like the CEO of TASK, the CEO of ICT of Tamil Nadu, CGM of APSSDC, and professors from leading engineering colleges.

Afternoon session was a hand-on session to help educators navigate through the Oracle Academy platform. Resource persons from Oracle Academy and expert faculty members handled this session by sharing their experience and providing guidance and best practices.

Oracle Academy provides a host of courses in the technology domain free of cost to students and faculty of member institutions, and they also provide access to learning material, software, and discount for certifications.
