It was with much pride and delight, Vidya received the news that, Kavya M Jayanthan (S8, EEE Dept) bestowed with ‘Best Student Award’ instituted by Indian Society for Technical Education (Kerala Chapter).

The inspiring story of Ms Anitha (S1, CE Dept), a committed government employee who embarked on a new educational journey after retiring, despite being 56 years old, Ms. Anitha, who previously worked as a teacher and later as a revenue inspector in the LSGD division of the Thrissur Corporation, made the bold decision to pursue a degree in engineering, adding yet another dimension to her already impressive career. Ms Anithas stories covered print and electronic medias as a testament to the power of ultimate learning and resilience

Scholarship and Endowment Bestowal Function 2023
To distinguish the exceptional merits and potential of younger minds, Scholarship and Endowment Bestowal Function 2023 was held on 30 September 2023. The function was attended by the esteemed dignitaries of VICT, and a host of eminent personalities. The presence of scholarship awardees and the endowment prize winners along with their parents added a zest to the function. A total of 128 scholarships and endowments to the newly selected students were distributed during the programme. Mr S Sreejith IPS (Addl. Director General of Police (ADGP) and Transport Commissioner, Kerala) graced the occasion as Chief guest with his inspiring words of insight.

Vidya considers EEE alumni to be our assets and ambassadors which was proved with the active participation of ROOTS which is a comprehensive scholarship scheme, instituted by the Alumni of the EEE Dept of Vidya to uphold the traditions and to raise the bar even upper for the vital benefit of engineering aspirants in EEE Dept. The names of winners of 10 ROOTS Scholarship 2023 were announced . APJ AKTU Inter Collegiate Athletic Meet award ceremony 2023, was a magnificent moment that filled our heart with pride as the incredible Vidya Sports Team secured second runners up in both Men and Women Category. Vidya stands among the crowd with second runner up trophy in the overall point. Abin Babu (Athletic Team Captain) brought another Mile stone to Vidya by creating a New Meet Record and Gold medal in 1500 mtr followed by Silver medal by Vishnupreema in neck and neck fight and Bronze medal leaped up by Adarsh K P in Long Jump made the Inaugural Day eventful for Vidya .

IEEE Smart Village
• Vidya achieved a significant milestone as a team of 14 students, along with Dr. Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics) and faculty member Santumon SD (Asst Prof Dept, ECE Dept), participated in the prestigious IEEE Smart Village (ISV) International Conference held at the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER) in Bhubaneswar. A team of students, including Sanjo P Rejin (S6, ECE Dept) (Lead), Sakthi S (S6, ECE Dept), Sinan Sulaiman (S4, ME), and Varundev A V (S4, ECE Dept) earned them a spot in the final round of the competition and another team, including Chaitra Prasad (S4, ECE Dept) (Lead), Gayathri Gireesh (S4, ECE Dept), Harikrishnan K S (S4, EEE Dept), and Gayathri Siva (S4, ECE Dept) had the privilege of presenting a poster presentation at the ISV conference. Seven teams from Vidya students presented their Project Ideas exemplary well at ‘IdeaRun: Pitch Your Idea’by IEEE Smart Village – South Asia Working Group
• Our committed students initially focused on providing hands-on sessions in “snap circuits” kits to children and students in the SOS Village, Mulayam. Currently Vidya has started initiatives in Thrissur, Tirunelveli (TN) and Bhubaneshwar (Orissa) with the student centre support and is supporting Mizoram, Assam, Maharashtra etc. via the national lead, Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics, Lead, ISV South Asia Working Group). ISV is extending their attempts towards Odisha to provide a level playing field for children with respect to Vocational Awareness.

Vidya is immensely proud that, every Vidyite deems in stimulating minds, improving intellectual capacity and molding characters which they value for their lifetime. They also attempt to inculcate social values and concern for others with various activities that include ‘ROOTS’ instituted by the Alumni of the EEE Dept to nurture gifted and deserving students by assisting them financially, academically and professionally for a great future., sponsoring full fee scholarship by CSE alumnus, donating oxygen cylinders and health-care kits to hospitals in Kerala in its fight against the intense Covid pandemic, food and protective kits to House Keeping and Security Staff in the college in their fight against Corona… just name a few.
Vidya provided a perfect space for all the alumni to rekindle the student in them and celebrate together christened ‘Thirike – 20 yon 27 August 2023 in Pranavam College Auditorium. The event also recognized the staff members who have reached milestones of service in supporting students and for their efforts to enhance the growth of institution.

CSE student honored by CADD International for being the Semester Topper (S2)

Sidhin Chandran C S (S3,CSE Dept) was presented a token of appreciation for his academic excellence by CADD International on being the Semester topper (S2) in the event ‘SUCCESS 2023’ which was held at Regional Theatre, Thrissur on 09 December 2023. He scored SGPA 9.8 in second semester examinations.

Study abroad Seminar by Santa Monica

Universities abroad are offering a host of niche courses especially in the emerging technologies for Post-Graduation studies both for degree and diploma courses. Across the country the young generation is very keen to equip themselves in these emerging domains and are aspiring to arm themselves with degrees or diplomas from top universities. Several universities support students by allowing them to work part-time and thereby support their studies. Top destinations include Canada, Australia, and Germany, besides the USA, UK, and Ireland etc. Of late the East European and Scandinavian nations are becoming prime destinations.

An awareness session about higher studies aboard and opportunities after completing PG courses aboard was provided to the final year students of the B. Tech program who are graduating in 2024. Ms. Nicy Binu, Director, Santa Monica addressed the final year students on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the main auditorium, Pranavam. The two hour session which began at 11:00 am provided a gist of the process involved and touched upon all aspects of the process involved in gaining admissions for studies aboard. Ms. Nicy provided a concise overview of the elements involved. The process involves activities like course selection, application processing, language preparation and certification, VISA processing, scholarship assistance, foreign exchange and loan assistance, flight ticketing and accommodation, pre-departure assistance, airport pick-up / drop, and relocation services etc. She also shared a brief about the nuances of each country and country specific nature of courses, importance of a particular country, country specific part-time working rules, residency provision, etc.

469 final year B. Tech students attended workshop. After the main discourse, Ms. Nicy addressed the queries from the students. She also provided a quick overview about the various certifications like IELTS, PTE, TOFEL, and about exams like GRE, GMAT, and SAT.

AIML Dept conducts Industry Interaction with TCS : Technical Session on “AI : Trends and Predictions”

Vidya is devoted to uplift the state-of-the-art technologies and models to deal with the issues of sustainable socio-economic growth as a Nodal Centre for IEEE Smart Village (ISV).

The volunteers from Vidya perform their level best to achieve sustainable community development with the wholehearted support from Vidya staff members under the leadership of Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics & Professor, EEE Dept) who is also bestowed with the role as Lead – Vocational Awareness, ISV South Asia Working Group.

To Unlock the Sustainable Community Development, an enlightening webinar , ‘South Asia Working Group Sustainable Community Development Process – Framework, Case Studies, Collaborations ‘ was hosted by ISV IEEE Smart Village South Asia Working Group (SAWG) on 25 November 2023, at 7:30 pm. Dr. Ashok Das (CEO, SunMoksha & Co-Chair, IEEE Smart Village – North America Working Group) served as speaker of the session. During this engaging online presentation, Dr. Ashok Das explored into various aspects of sustainable community development, business models for community enterprises, and real-world aspects.

MCA conducts Alumni- Interaction Session-2

Vidya Computer Applications Association (ViCA) and MCA alumni, in continuation, organizes the second alumni interaction session which aims to improve the practical knowledge and skills of the students.

Mr Aashrith Nandakumar (2017-20 batch MCA) gave a session on “Testing and automation practices using selenium” to his juniors of S3 MCA (2022-24 batch) on 20 November 2023 at 2 pm.

Dr Reji C Joy(HOD, MCA) welcomed Mr Aashrith to the session. The session was very informative where Mr Aashrith gave an overview of the current trends in Testing in IT. Mr Aashrit is currently working as Systems Engineer at TCS (Automation Quality Analyst).

The students wholeheartedly attended the session and thanked Mr Aashrithfor the information shared with them. Ms Salkala K S (Asst Prof and MCA Alumni Co-ordinator) gave a note of thanks. Mr Dijesh P (Assoc Prof, MCA) presented a memento to Mr Aashrith.

CSE student clears NPTEL Examination
