Mr Akshay Dileep on the UPSC Civil Services list

There was forever a burning desire in Mr Akshay to get into the civil services as this is considered to be the most esteemed services in our country.

Civil Service success list with rank 439. Mr Akshay qualified the examination with Sociology as his optional subject.Akshay brought this result in his third attempt, showcasing the strength of self-confidence and determination.

Mr Akshay reinforced his conviction for civil services after his graduation from Vidya.

Akshay speaks   – “Success is not the aim…the journey is… so enjoy the process” says Mr Akshay on this great feat 
Vibrant Sportsman with gold medal in International Rural Boxing Championship
Mr Akshay achieved second in the Calicut University Inter Collegiate Boxing Championship held at St. Thomas College, Thrissur in 2015 while he was a student in Vidya. He also won Gold Medal in the 75 kg Middle Weight category in the Indo-Nepal Goodwill International Rural Boxing Championship held in Nepal during 27 – 28 May 2018 . 
Family as a persistent pillar of strength
Ms Aiswarya, an Interior Designer also stood with her brother’s dream and extended wholehearted support for his full fledged preparation after having completed his B.Tech .Hailing from Permangalam Vrindavan Bhavan in Thrissur district, Mr Akshay has done his schooling from Harisri Vidya Nidhi School ,Punkunnam and IES Public School, Chittilappilly

The Rotary Club of Chalakudy Central organized a marathon event ‘Athirappilly Run Green Marathon’ on 07 April 2024 .

Industrial Visit of S6 EEE Students explores new learning experiences in Renewable Energy

To get a feel of  real work environment, an industrial Visit was conducted to S6 EEE students during 14-17 March 2024.

Students from the Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) department of S6, along with their group tutors, Ms Sheeja G (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) and Mr. Rajesh S K (Asso Prof, EEE Dept), embarked on an enlightening industrial visit to the renowned Banasura Sagar Dam in Wayanad on 14 March 2024. The excursion was not just a routine trip but an immersive experience into the realm of renewable energy, focusing on the groundbreaking floating solar project and rooftop solar initiatives spearheaded by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB).

National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is a quality Indian e-learning platform for university-level Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects. It is jointly developed by Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institute of Science It operates one of the most extensive educational Youtube channel covering engineering, basic sciences, and some humanities and social science subjects.

VSEC conducts session on Importance of Energy Conservation and Summer”

Ms Mary Helna (Sub Engineer, KSEB) addressed the audience and provided valuable insights about the peak hours of electrical energy consumption, highlighting when energy usage is at its highest and offering tips for saving electricity during those times.

Ms Akhila.R (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) coordinated the event. The insights shared by Dr. T.V. Vimalkumar and the active participation of attendees contributed to the success of the event. Overall, the Urja Kiran Summer Campaign – 2024 served as a catalyst for fostering dialogue and action towards a more sustainable future.

CSE alumna offered EY industry relationship and EY‘kalalayam’ training sessions

Ms. Mrithu A S (Asst Prof,CSE Dept), CSE alumni committee member, has taken initiative under the guidance of Dr Ramani Bai V (HoD, CSE Dept)to interact with alumna, Ms Ancy Anto (Senior Associate ,EY(2009-2013 Batch, CSE Dept)) for the possibility of conducting technical sessions. To begin with, CSE HoD- Dr Ramani Bai V and Ms. Mrithu conducted a meeting with EY team guided by Mr.Rijo Jhony on 08 February 2024 to negotiate for establishing industrial relationships and offering technical sessions. As outcome of this interaction, EYKalalayam project has been connected with CSE department of Vidya

CE HoD attends webinar on ‘AI as a Productivity Tool’

Vidya Professors update their practical insights and innovations to increase productivity, and discuss, new challenges on how to outsmart competition with Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Dr Abhilasha P S (Professor, HoD CE Dept) attended a webinar on AI as a Productivity Tool on 04 April 2024 organized by Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering, Trivandrum Chapter.

S8 CE B Batch students learn the technology behind effective waste treatment and Real structures

Real structures are highly essential for any professional course. With an aim to promote effective learning process an Industrial Visit (IV) was conducted to S8 CE B Batch students during 11-17 March 2024.

As a Civil Engineering student, they should be aware about the effective waste management for the sustainable development learn about the waste treatment plant and their components and procedure. Dr Abhilasha P S (HoD, CE Dept) and Mr Kiran Babu A R (Asst Prof, CE Dept) led the IV.

Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC)

GWMC works for securing and assisting in the orderly establishment and organization of facilities to manage solid waste and other types of waste It is also aimed to provide guidance and assistance to local bodies and organizations in terms of technology and methodology.

GWMC is established for the permanent solution for Goa waste management issues. In this waste treatment plant they are treating all bio degradable and plastic wastes properly. GWMC have a large biogas plant for treating bio degrading waste and converting this bio gas to and the plant runs by this electricity and remaining is given to the Goa State Electricity Board. All these were well explained.

The basic principle of waste treatment , modern waste management facilities were briefed with its position at GWMC (the largest and most modern waste treatment plant in India). The usage of magnetic separator for separating the tins and cans separation digested, dried waste to cement plant, dry waste and wet waste treatment facility etc were addressed.. The wet waste plant have 250 tonnes capacity and 3 biogas plant of 170 kg are installed. The compost is used for farming and gardening in Goa state. In this plant utilises hammering technology for making the waste in to smaller particles for effective waste treatment. The working of most modern waste treatment plant and its different stages of treatment and procedure and importance of effective waste treatment in sustainable development of a state were clearly demonstrated.
