NSS units organise 3-day workshop on “Revamping of Village Adoption”
The NSS units of the College organized a three-day state-level workshop on “Revamping of Village Adoption” in the College during 25 – 27.01.2018.
The inaugural ceremony of the workshop was held at the College Auditorium on 25.01.2018. The ceremony, presided over by Dr Sudha Balagopalan, Principal, began with a welcome address by Mr. Abdul Jabbar (Program Coordinator, NSS Technical Cell, Kerala). Ms. Marie Thomas (Ditrict Panchayath President) delivered the inaugural address. Er. G Mohanachandran (Executive Director, VICT), Mr. Vinod, Mr. Prasoon Mangalath, Mr. Naseem Hashmi (ARM, Technical Cell) and Smt. Aneena addressed the participants. Mr. Anil Melepurath (NSS Programme Officer) gave the vote of thanks.
The objective of the workshop was to discuss how each NSS unit could adopt a village and how each such adopted village could be developed with the help of the NSS volunteers. Various activities for village development were planned and analyzed under SAGY (Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana) project. The related discussions were moderated by Mr. Kuriyan, Mr. Prabhakaran and Mr. Justin Joseph (Project Consultant, NSS Tech Cell). There was a session on ‘Application of Technology in Rural Development’ handled by Mr. Chandrababu (Retd. Joint Development Commissioner). Mr. Jagajeevan, from Haritha Kerala Mission, handled a session on green technology, bio-gas plant technology, and home appliance unit. A technical session on mobile data collection in Government using Open Data Kit was handled by Mr. Anoop Krishna P (Specialist in MIS, Local Self-Govt. Department).
