NSS units organise Seven Day Special Camp

The NSS units of Vidya organized a seven-day special camp on “Local Empowerment and GIS Mapping: Choondal Panchayath” at  Choondal Grama Panchayath during 6 – 12 July 2018. Volunteers conducted a socio-economic survey and GIS mapping in the 18 wards of Choondal Panchayath as part of the special camp. They also cleaned the premises of the Men’s Hostel in the College campus and also engaged in Ecoclub activities in different places of the campus.  Various cultural activities and gaming sessions were conducted as part of the special camp.

The inaugural ceremony was held at the College auditorium.  Mr Anil M (NSS Programme Officer) welcomed the gathering.  Mr K S Kareem (President, Choondal Grama Panchayath) inaugurated the special camp. The ceremony was presided by Dr Saji C B, Principal. Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics) delivered a special address on the occasion. Er G Mohanachandran (Executive Director, VICT), Mr Anoop (DDP-TCR representative) and Mr Valsan (Project Consultant, Choondal) felicitated the function. Vishnu P C (NSS Volunteer Secretary) proposed vote of thanks. Around 210 NSS Volunteers attended the special camp. Mrs Ajitha S (Programme Coordinator, NSS Technical Cell, Kerala) visited the camp, interacted with NSS volunteers and gave positive feedback about the camp.
