NSS units organise seven-day Special Camp for conducting Rapid Visual Screening Survey
As part of the post-mega-deluge stock taking, various Grama Panchayaths and Municipalities had decided to conduct a Rapid Visual Screening Survey of the flood affected areas and the NSS volunteers of Vidya had agreed to assist the process. The facilitate the conduct of the Survey, the entire activity was organised as a seven-day Special Camp of the NSS units and it was held during 27 August – 2 September 2018.
The NSS volunteers conducted the survey at different areas of Thrissur district and collected the details of houses in the flood affected areas. They also collected the details of damaged electrical appliances. The Survey covered around 21,000 houses in Pavaratty, Guruvayoor, Avanoor, Erumapetty, Tholur, Kaiparambu, Venkidangu and Kunnamkulam Municipality. Also, as part of the camp, volunteers cleaned the premises of the College and also did some Ecoclub activities in different places of the campus. Various cultural activities and gaming sessions were also conducted.
The inaugural ceremony of the Camp was held at the College Auditorium. Mr Anil M, NSS Programme Officer, welcomed the gathering. The programme was presided by Dr Saji C B, Principal. Dr Sudha Balagopalan, Dean Academics, delivered a special address on the occasion. Er G Mohanachandran, Executive Director, felicitated the event. About 108 NSS Volunteers attended the special camp.
