CE M Tech students attend seminar at COSTFORD
Students of the S3 M.Tech (Structural Engineering) batch of Vidya attended a seminar organized on the theme “Frontier Technology as an Innovative Tool to Transform Waste to Wealth” by COSTFORD (Centre of Science and Technology for Rural Development), Thrissur, in association with Institution of Engineers, Indian Institute of Architects, Architects and Engineers Association, Kerala State, Nirmithi Kendra and District Nirmithi Kendra. The seminar was held on 14 October 2019 at C Achutha Menon Hall, Ayyanthole as part of World Habitat Day.
Shri P Prasad (Chairman of Kerala State Housing Board) delivered the key note address giving the audience an idea about the waste produced in Kerala each year. He provided information about some waste management methods like land filling. Architect Shri Padmakumar then conducted a presentation on alternative building technology based on the Laurie Baker style of construction.. The presentation was mainly based on the REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE methods.
