EEE Dept’s ten-day training program on “Power Quality” inaugurated
With the realisation that the future career opportunities in electrical engineering are going to be centred around power quality monitoring, analysis and mitigation the EEE Dept of the College conceived the idea of organising a ten-day training programme on “Power Quality” with support from Gossen Metrowatt GmbH, Germany, Merus Power, Finland and Jef Tech Solutions, Bengaluru.
The Programme was formally inaugurated in a ceremony held on 19 January 2021. The lighting of the ceremonial lamp marking the inauguration was done online jointly by former faculty members Dr P Pratapachandran Nair, Dr T N Padmnabhan Nambiar and Dr M N Agnisarman Namboodiri. Dr Saji C B, Principal, presided over the function. Er Michael Schulze, Gossen Metrowatt and Er Anil Kumar P, Jef Techno Solutions attended the ceremony as special guests. Dr Sudha Balagopalan, Dean Academics, who was instrumental in bringing the training programme to Vidya campus, detailed the contents and structure of the training. Dr Mary P Varghese, HoD in charge, EEE Dept explained the aspirations and views of the Dept in organizing this training program. Felicitation for the function was delivered by Er G Mohanachandran, Executive Director, VICT.
A curtain raiser programmeOn the day before the day of inauguration of the programme, there was a one-day introductory session on power quality for the benefit of the students of the EEE Dept. The session was handled by Er Jomon Chacko, Mr Anand, Mr Vibin and experts from Jef Techno Solutions, who demonstrated the equipment related to the power quality analysis. |
The training program is coordinated by Mr. Vishnurach K R (AP, EEE Dept) with Mr Arjun M (AP, EEE Dept & VTC Coordinator), Ms Arathy K Rajeev (AP, EEE Dept) as the Co-coordinators. The other faculty members who are involved in the training program are Mr Arun Xavier, Mr Aswin T Surendran , Mr. Sreekanth R Shekar, Ms Neerja A Poduval and Mr Sankaran Nampoothiri K, all Assistant Professors in the EEE Dept. Dr.Sudha Balagopalan acts as a mentor and chief guide for the whole training program.
