EEE Dept conducts 10-day training on “Power Quality” a second time

After the successful completion of the first Power Quality Training Program in January 2021, the EEE Dept  organized a second edition of the 10-day programme during March 2021. As in the first edition, the training was given by technical experts from JEF Techno Solutions, Bengaluru, Gossen Metrowatt Pvt. Ltd, Germany and Merus Power, Finland.

Inauguration

The formal inauguration of the program was held online on 18 March 2021. The chief guests for the function were two of the resource persons for the training program, Er Michael Schulze, Sales Manager, Gossen Metrowatt, Germany and Er Anil Kumar P, Jef Techno Solutions, Bengaluru. The session was presided over by Dr Saji C B, Principal. The session was inaugurated by Dr Santhosh Prasannan, Chairman, VICT. Dr P Rajan, Director of KSEB (Transmission, Operation and REES Division) delivered the keynote address. Dr Sudha Balagopalan, Dean Academics, who was the key person in bringing the training into the campus, detailed the contents and structure of the training. A specialized club meant for bringing together the students who aspires to be experts in power quality monitoring, was launched as a part of the event. The club which is named as “PQ Trainers Club” was formally launched by Dr V N.Krishnachandran, Vice Principal. The inaugural function was followed by a panel discussion on the importance of power quality in the different fields of the society was held online. This was a one-of-a-kind program which was attended by numerous experts from different parts of the world and who are working in different domains in the industry.

Training

The training program took place over a period of 10 days with the formal closing ceremony held on 31 March 2021. As many as 19 students attended the course. The training program consisted of theory sessions on different topics of
power quality as well as hands on sessions on a power quality meter. The hands-on session was handled by Mr Anand, expert from Jef Techno Solutions. Where as the theory sessions were handled by experts Er. Michael Schulze, from Gossen Metrawatt, Germany, Er Anil Kumar P, Er Ronak Desai, Er Varadarajan, from Jef Techno Solutions, Bengaluru, Er Pedro Estoban, from Merus Power Finland. In addition to these sessions, an additional webinar was organized on the topic of cyber security on power quality meters, which was handled by Er Engel Sacha, CEO, Camille Bauer, Switzerland.

Valedictory function

The valedictory function was held on 31 March 2021 which was presided over by Dr Saji C B, Principal. Er Michael Schulze, Er Anilkumar P, both served as guests of honor. Mr. Vishnu Rach K R, coordinator of the program, delivered the welcome address. The course completion certificate for the trainees were handed over to them by Mr. Unnirajan, Administrative Director, VICT, Dr Kala Bharathan, Head, VTC, Ms Neenu Thomas, HoD in charge for the day, EEE Dept, and Mr Vishnu Rach K R. The session was concluded by formal vote of thanks delivered by Mr Arjun M (AP, EEE Dept).
