V-CAIR organises webinar on deep and machine learning projects and opportunities

A webinar on “Machine and Deep Learning: Projects and Opportunities” was conducted on 6 May 2021 by V-CAIR (Vidya Centre for Artificial Intelligence) as a part of the Wednesday AI program. Wednesday AI is an event under V-CAIR and AI Club VAST which is a students’ forum to promote discussions and exchange of ideas in AI research and projects and meets every Wednesday from 3:30 PM – 4:45 PM.The main agenda of the webinar was to provide the pre-final yea r B Tech students some basic idea on the machine learning domain and to give them ideas on how to approach and select projects for their final year.

The chief guest of the programme was Dr Sridhar Swaminathan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science Engineering at Bennett University. Dr Sridhar Swaminathan is also a Project Manager for the Leading India AI Project and also NVIDIA DLI Ambassador. Formerly, he worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Bennett University and also worked as a Research Officer in the Multimedia University, Malaysia. His research interests are Computer Vision, Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing.

The webinar started at 3:30 PM as scheduled with a prayer by Ms Manjumaney. The webinar was then inaugurated by the Head of CSE Dept Dr Ramani Bai. Then the chief guest was introduced and was formally welcomed to the webinar session by the student secretary of V-CAIR Mr Nived Narayanan. Then the host of the session Ms Ifine invited the guest to take over the session.

The session started at 3:45 PM and was divided into three parts. The first part was devoted to present an introduction to basic theory and concepts of the machine learning field, the second part consisted of suggestions regarding projects and tips from his personal experience on how to choose a project and how to tackle it. And the last part consisted of the Q&A session.

The session ended at 04:45 PM with the vote of thanks delivered by Mr Ravishankar (AP, CSE Dept). As many as 101 students and others attended the webinar  with 202 viewers watching the Facebook online streaming of the session.
