CSE Dept organizes technical talk on ‘Remaining relevant for a Successful Career’

The Dept of CSE in Vidya always takes initiatives to promote knowledge on the domain of information technology and equip the students well by securing challenging positions in reputable organizations to expand their leanings, knowledge, and skills.

To gain a keen insight , the CSE Dept organized a technical talk on “Remaining relevant for a successful career” to the first year B.Tech (CSE) students on 05 January  2023 . Mr. PramodKumar Karunalayam (Head of platform operations in East Asia and Japan at Philip Morris International) was the resource person.

The session mainly focused on 3 major points to lead a successful career

  • Know Yourself  : We should make it a habit to try to know ourselves everyday. Understand our capacities, strengths, weakness etc.Try to ask ourselves questions to reflect on what our core qualities are.
  • Know your career : Common misconception is that a job and a career is the same thing. Actually a job is just one activity where as a career is constant progression of our professional life throughout the lifetime. A career is something we need to try to build by looking at courses and try to achieve our goals.
  • Be relevant : Staying up to date can help a business or individual become more dynamic and marketable. Upgrading our knowledge and practicing our skills can improve our employability and connect with our colleagues and customers

The resource person also focused on how to build the career and how we should make it so that our employers would feel like they are losing something if they don’t hire us. He also told the students that they should learn  ‘ how to learn’ , not ‘just learn’.

After the session , the students interacted with the resource person and cleared their doubts. The session was concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Ramani Bai (HoD CSE Dept) .The session was really inspiring and helped the students to know about the job aspects in software development.

Hearty appreciation to Dr Ramani and all involved !!!
