Technical Talk on Cosmic Companions

Mr Paulose Thomas (2008 – 12 Batch, EEE Dept) – founder of SPT Online Classes on 16  April 2023 at 7.00 pm  via Google meet platform.

Ms Sheeja G (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) delivered the welcome speech. The aim of the talk was to impart knowledge about the topic of aliens, also known as extraterrestrial life which has been a subject of fascination and speculation for centuries. While there is currently no definitive proof that aliens exist, the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) continues to be an active area of research for scientists and astronomers around the world. Speaker clearly explained about some topics related to Aliens

The session

Speaker clearly explained about some topics related to Aliens.

The Drake Equation: The Drake Equation is a mathematical formula developed by astronomer Frank Drake to estimate the number of detectable extraterrestrial civilizations in the Milky Way galaxy. The equation takes into account factors such as the number of stars in the galaxy, the percentage of stars with planets, and the likelihood of life arising on those planets. While the Drake Equation is not perfect and there is much uncertainty in its parameters, it provides a framework for thinking about the possibility of extraterrestrial life.

UFO sightings: UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) sightings have been reported by people all over the world for decades. While many of these sightings can be explained as natural phenomena or man-made objects, there are some that remain unexplained. The United States government recently released a report on UFO sightings by military personnel, which did not provide any definitive proof of extraterrestrial life but did acknowledge the need for further investigation. Search for extraterrestrial intelligence: The search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) involves using telescopes and other instruments to scan the universe for signs of intelligent life. One approach is to look for radio signals that may be generated by extraterrestrial civilizations. While there have been some promising signals detected, none have been confirmed to be of extraterrestrial origin.

The session was concluded with the vote of thanks by. The session was really inspiring and helped the students to know about the extraterrestrial life of Aliens. Ms Neenu Thomas (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) co-ordinated the session.
