To encourage and assist aspiring micro-utility entrepreneurs to validate their business models and enhance the scalability of their enterprise, 2023 IEEE Smart Village Conference on Empowering Communities through Enterprise Development, Education and Technologies For Productive Use of Energy will be held during 11-12 August 2023 at the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), Bhubaneshwar. It is organized by ISV and co-located with the SEFET 2023 conference on “Sustainable Energy and Future Electric Transportation.”
IEEE Smart Village – South Asia Working Group (ISV SAWG) had conducted Student Project Ideas contest ‘IdeaRun 2023: Pitch Your Idea’ during 08-09 July 2023 with an objective to create local livelihood opportunities from end to end lively use of technology in underprivileged society. Seven teams from Vidya students participated in this nationwide project idea contest in which even PhD students were competed. More than 25 teams were presented their ideas in the contest.
Entering into the next phase of IdeaRun, the project, (AI Based Early Warning System For Mitigating Human Wildlife Conflict that consisting of students Sanjo P Rejin (S6, ECE Dept) (Lead),Sakthi S (S6, ECE Dept),Sinan Sulaiman (S4, ME),Varundev A V (S4, ECE Dept) will perform oral presentations in the conference.The project ‘Fish Waste to Fertilizer Converter: Technology to Assist Women’ done by the students Chaitra Prasad (S4, ECE Dept) (Lead),Gayathri Gireesh (S4, ECE Dept),Harikrishnan K S (S4, EEE Dept),Shahaana P P(S2, EEE Dept),Gayathri Siva (S4, ECE Dept) is selected for poster presentation in the ISV conference. Mr Santumon S D (Asst Prof, ECE Dept) will lead the team.As many as 14 students are going to attend the conference.Ms Akhila R (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) played a pivotal role to complete the procedures for attending the session to the students well on time.
Apart from this, Midhun Joshy (S4, EEE Dept), Akhila M (S6, ECE Dept),Jeeva H M (S6, ECE Dept),Suraj Shaju Meledath (S4, EEE Dept),Karan Jacob Mathew (S4, EEE Dept) and Visakh T (S4, EEE Dept) will serve as volunteers. Sinan Sulaiman, (S4, ME Dept) will attend panel discussion.The participants and volunteers will get the opportunity of attending Keynotes and Plenary Sessions, Technical Paper Presentations, Industry Sessions and Student Presentations etc.
Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Lead – Vocational Awareness, ISV South Asia WG, Dean Academics & Professor in EEE Dept) mentored the student with her stupendous technical and moral support throughout the process. Adding another accolade to this inspiring story, Vidya is the only teaching institution represented in the international conference where Dr Sudha will be talking of our work for vocational awareness in the Session IV titled “Education, Skill Building and Vocational Awareness for Community Development’ on 10 August 2023.
