S8 CE B Batch students learn the technology behind effective waste treatment and Real structures
Real structures are highly essential for any professional course. With an aim to promote effective learning process an Industrial Visit (IV) was conducted to S8 CE B Batch students during 11-17 March 2024.
As a Civil Engineering student, they should be aware about the effective waste management for the sustainable development learn about the waste treatment plant and their components and procedure. Dr Abhilasha P S (HoD, CE Dept) and Mr Kiran Babu A R (Asst Prof, CE Dept) led the IV.
Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC)
GWMC works for securing and assisting in the orderly establishment and organization of facilities to manage solid waste and other types of waste It is also aimed to provide guidance and assistance to local bodies and organizations in terms of technology and methodology.
GWMC is established for the permanent solution for Goa waste management issues. In this waste treatment plant they are treating all bio degradable and plastic wastes properly. GWMC have a large biogas plant for treating bio degrading waste and converting this bio gas to and the plant runs by this electricity and remaining is given to the Goa State Electricity Board. All these were well explained.
The basic principle of waste treatment , modern waste management facilities were briefed with its position at GWMC (the largest and most modern waste treatment plant in India). The usage of magnetic separator for separating the tins and cans separation digested, dried waste to cement plant, dry waste and wet waste treatment facility etc were addressed.. The wet waste plant have 250 tonnes capacity and 3 biogas plant of 170 kg are installed. The compost is used for farming and gardening in Goa state. In this plant utilises hammering technology for making the waste in to smaller particles for effective waste treatment. The working of most modern waste treatment plant and its different stages of treatment and procedure and importance of effective waste treatment in sustainable development of a state were clearly demonstrated.
Hearty appreciations to all involved !!! |
