Vidya NSS Volunteers raise funds for Wayanad Relief through Scrap Collection Drive
In a noble effort to contribute to Wayanad’s landslide relief, the NSS unit of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology organized a successful Scrap Collection Drive during 27-28 August 2024. The drive aimed to raise funds by collecting unused and recyclable materials both on campus and within the VelurPanchayath community.
A team of 27 dedicated NSS volunteers began their mission by collecting scrap materials from staff rooms and laboratories across the campus on 27 August 2024,. the volunteers extended their collection efforts to various homes in VelurPanchayath, receiving overwhelming support from the local community on 28 August 2024
By selling the collected scrap, the volunteers managed to raise ?7090/- which will be directly utilized for the Wayanadlandslide relief activities. This initiative was a remarkable example of social responsibility and environmental awareness, showcasing the collective efforts of the student volunteers to bring about positive change.
The program was meticulously coordinated by NSS Volunteer Secretaries Aswathy E S, Mrithyunjay R, Nistal K Paul, Devika Mothilal, Obadh Jose, Ardra Shanmughan, Aruna R Menon, and Adarsh N A, with the support of NRPF coordinators. The campaign was guided by the NSS faculty coordinators, Mr. Rajesh S K (NSS Program Officer and Associate Professor, EEE Dep), Mr Ranjith E R (NSS Program Officer and Assistant Professor, ME Dept.), and Ms. Delmy David V (NSS Program Officer and Assistant Professor, CSE Dept).
