CE Dept conducts Workshop on “Dreamcraft-Building Tomorrow’s Home” (SketchUP software)

CE Dept provides rare opportunity to plus two students to have their own residential building plan.

The workshop titled “Dreamcraft – Building Tomorrow’s Home” (SketchUp Software) was held at VAST Campus on 19 December 2024 for students of VBHSS, Thrissur. A total of 44 students (12th grade) and two teachers participated in the workshop, which was an engaging and enriching experience for all. The participants were warmly welcomed by Dr Abhilasha P S (HoD, CE Dept)

The inaugural function was held at 10:30 AM, starting with a prayer recited by Ms Yamini Vijayan  (S4, CE Dept).This was followed by a welcome speech delivered by Mr Kiran Babu A R (Asst Prof, CE Dept).The programme was officially inaugurated by Dr Abhilasha P S (HoD, CE Dept) who also delivered the inaugural address. Then the students were directed to the Common Computer Centre where the session was held.

The session of the day was a hands-on workshop on Dreamcraft – Building Tomorrow’s Home (SketchUp Software), led by Mr Renjith R (Asst Prof, CE Dept). During this session, students were introduced to the SketchUp software and learned how to model residential building.To evaluate the participants’ proficiency, a test was conducted, and assessments were done. After the workshop, students were given a tour of the Civil Engineering Department, various labs, and key areas of the campus, including the auditorium, canteen, hostel, Nakshathravanam, and sports ground.

Certificates of participation were distributed to the students. The winner of the test, Gautham (VBHSS Thrissur), was honored with a memento.
