\With an aim to provide valuable insights and guidance to students aspiring to pursue higher education in the United States , Vidya hosted an interactive session on 21 January 2025. Dr. Rakesh Hari (Professor & HoD, ME Dept) introduced the speaker and explored a small brief on international academic pathways with a hope that scholarships and financial aid helped alleviate concerns about affordability, making studying in the USA more accessible.
Dr. Sunil Surendran (faculty member, Fairmount State University, West Virginia) who has over 35 years of university-level teaching experience at several US universities and visiting professor of Business Policy at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) led the session. The insightful Invited Talk covered several renowned U.S. universities, focusing on the admission process, educational opportunities, and financial aid options available for international students. The session provided valuable guidance for students aspiring to pursue higher education in the United States. Importance of university selection based on programs, faculty, and research opportunities. Overview of top-ranking universities and their specialized courses Research-oriented programs and interdisciplinary study options and understanding application requirements were well explained by the speaker. Dr. Sunil also mentioned the benefits of studying in the USA, including career prospects and global exposure.
The interactive session allowed participants to clarify their doubts and gain insights from experienced speakers. It encouraged aspiring scholars to prepare strategically for the admission process and seize the numerous opportunities available in higher education abroad.
