Participation in the ISRO–IIRS Online Training on Remote Sensing of Soils by the Dept of AIML
The Department of AIML ensures the optimal utilization of resources to familiarize students with real-world case studies and practical applications. This includes hands-on experience with relevant techniques, and datasets to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry practices.
Recently the staff members and students took part in a 5-day online training program ‘Remote Sensing of Soils: Mapping, Classification, and Evaluation for Agricultural Land Use Planning’ organized by the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), ISRO-IIRS–Dehradun, during 03-07 March 2025.The training saw active participation from the AIML Dept Dr. Jeeva K A (Prof & HoD , AIML Dept) and Mr. Nisanth P (Asst Prof, AIML Dept) attended the sessions alongside students Rahul K (S6,AIML Dept), Prakeerthana Baiju (S2,AIML Dept), Meera Surendran (S2,AIML Dept), Swetha S Warrier (S2,AIML Dept) and Elsa Rose (S2,AIML Dept)
Participants gained valuable exposure to remote sensing technologies, digital soil mapping, and the role of geospatial data in sustainable agricultural planning. The sessions, delivered by experts from IIRS–ISRO, emphasized real-world applications of satellite data in soil evaluation and land use optimization. Such training initiatives play a crucial role in enriching the academic experience of both faculty and students, bridging the gap between emerging technologies and practical applications in environmental and agricultural domains.
The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending heartiest congratulations to Dr. Jeeva, Mr. Nisanth, Rahul, Prakeerthana, Meera,Swetha and Elsa on the successful participation that provides valuable insights into advanced remote sensing technologies, along with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and applications of these technologies and their practical use across various domains !!! |
