ME students innovate for hygiene and sustainability – Research on Sanitary Napkin Disposal Machine published in IJIRSET.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering strives to foster innovative and socially responsible engineering solutions, reflecting the students’ dedication to applying their technical knowledge to real-world challenges

A team of students Abyuh T S (S8, ME Dept), Aswin Jayathilakan (S8, ME Dept), Aswin Raj (S8, ME Dept) and Dany Binoy M (S8, ME Dept) has achieved a commendable milestone in socially relevant engineering by publishing a research paper titled “Design and Fabrication of Sanitary Napkin Disposal Machine” in the International Journal of Innovative Research in Science, Engineering and Technology (IJIRSET), Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2025.The project was undertaken under the expert guidance of Mr. Naveen T. P. (Asst Prof, ME Dept)

The published work proposes a novel and eco-friendly sanitary napkin disposal machine equipped with automated waste separation, UV sterilization, high-pressure air cleaning, and smart compaction modules. The system also features IoT-based monitoring for real-time maintenance alerts and remote tracking, making it highly suitable for deployment in schools, public restrooms, and workplaces.

Addressing a critical need in public health and environmental sustainability, the project is aligned with national cleanliness campaigns such as the Swachh Bharat Mission. The machine not only promotes safe menstrual hygiene practices but also supports waste segregation and responsible disposal practices, helping reduce landfill burden and environmental pollution.

The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending heartiest congratulations to Mr. Naveen,Abyuh,Aswin Jayathilakan, Aswin Raj and Dany on this remarkable accomplishment that addresses a pressing concern in public health and environmental sustainability and contributes meaningfully to   mitigating environmental pollution
