ME Dept organizes two-day workshop on Fusion 360
To provide faculty with practical insights into modern, end-to-end design-to-manufacturing workflows and introduced them to cloud-enabled collaborative tools, the Department of Mechanical Engineering in collaboration with BIM IT organized an intensive two-day workshop on Fusion 360 during 28-29 April 2025. Mr Winston Thomas (Autodesk Certified Trainer) served as the resource person. The session empowered faculty with hands-on exposure to modern, integrated design-to-manufacture workflows and cloud-based collaboration tools .
Participants engaged in project-based exercises mirroring real-world product development scenarios—an approach shown to deepen engagement and skill retention in engineering education. The curriculum introduced key aspects of generative design, enabling educators to explore algorithm-driven optimization techniques for complex geometries and covered foundational finite-element analysis methods to validate part performance under load.
Emphasizing experiential learning, the workshop modeled best practices for active-learning labs and demonstrated how cloud projects and version control can streamline team collaboration—capabilities that align with industry expectations for agile, distributed design teams. By integrating CAD, CAM, simulation, and data management in a single platform, this initiative reflects Vidya Academy’s strategic commitment to bridge classroom theory and hands-on laboratory practice, preparing graduates for contemporary workflows in automotive, aerospace, and consumer-products industries .
Building on this momentum, the department plans follow-up modules later this semester focused on advanced finite-element techniques, generative-design deep dives, and robotic-automation integration—ensuring continual upskilling of faculty and reinforcement of a digital design pipeline that supports research, capstone projects, and cross-department collaborations.
The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending hearty congratulations to the entire ME Dept on the successful conduct of the session that empowers participants with real-time exposure to cutting-edge tools and technologies !!! |
