Vidya leads the way in pedagogical innovation with FDP on ‘Achieving Academic Excellence‘
Vidya promotes collaborative learning, enhancing instructional design skills, and familiarizing participants with the latest tools and techniques in outcome-based education and assessment and support the professional development of newly inducted faculty members. Vidya conducted Five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Achieving Academic Excellence: Best Practices & Innovative Teaching” organized by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in association with ISTE Faculty Chapter VAST and Institution of Engineers (India) [IE(I)], aiming to foster academic excellence, pedagogical innovation, and professional development among newly inducted faculty members during 07 -14 July 2025 |
The event began with an invocation, seeking blessings for the successful conduct of the programme and academic enrichment of the participants.Dr. Jeeva K. A(IQAC Head, HoD,AIML Dept) delivered the welcome address. She introduced the objectives of the Faculty Induction Programme and underscored the importance of continuous professional development for educators.Dr. Sunitha C (Principal) in her presidential address, emphasized the role of innovation and best practices in teaching to achieve academic excellence. She encouraged faculty members to use this opportunity to engage with new pedagogical tools and methods. The programme was officially inaugurated by Prof. Dr. C. P. Sunil Kumar (National Executive Council Member, Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), New Delhi, Division Board Committee Member (Mechanical Engineering, The Institution of Engineers (India), Kerala State Centre). He spoke about the evolving landscape of technical education and stressed the necessity for educators to be adaptive, student-centric, and tech-enabled. His insights drew attention to national academic goals and institutional contributions toward knowledge dissemination. |
Mr. Suresh Lal, (Executive Director, VICT) highlighted the pivotal role of faculty development initiatives in enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.Dr. Shalij P. R (Director –Academics,VICT) lauded the efforts of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the organizing team for designing a well-structured and timely Faculty Development Programme that addresses the evolving needs of academic professionals. Dr. Shalij highlighted the critical role such initiatives play in enhancing teaching quality and fostering academic excellence.Adv . P. N. Unnirajan (Director-Administration,VICT) addressed the gathering, highlighting the vital role of faculty development in maintaining educational quality and institutional growth.All speakers acknowledged the importance of faculty development initiatives and commended the organizing team for curating a meaningful and timely programme.Mr. Sarath Babu R (Asst Prof, ME Dept) concluded the session by expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, organizing committee, and all attendees. He highlighted the collaborative efforts behind the successful launch of the programme. |

Participants shared positive feedback, recognizing the programme as a significant initiative in orienting new faculty members to the institutional culture and educational philosophy of VAST. The sessions effectively emphasized innovative teaching practices, adherence to quality standards, and the pivotal role of educators in inspiring student success. Dr. Sreedevi A. (IQAC Coordinator, Associate Professor, AS Dept) under the guidance of Dr. Jeeva K. A (IQAC Head, HoD,AIML Dept) coordinated the FDP with meticulous planning, and her tireless efforts greatly contributed to its success, enabling faculty members to gain valuable insights into lesson planning and course file preparation.
