NSS Observes World Suicide Prevention Day

World Suicide Prevention Day is observed every year on 10 September to highlight mental health awareness and stress the importance of preventing suicide through understanding, compassion, and collective action. In line with this global initiative, the NSS Unit of Vidya  organized an awareness activity on campus to spread the message of hope, empathy, and mental well-being among students and staff.

As part of the observance, NSS volunteers prepared and distributed yellow ribbons, the global symbol for suicide prevention awareness, to students, faculty, and staff members. Volunteers assisted participants in pinning the ribbons, symbolizing collective support for mental health and suicide prevention.

Additionally, the volunteers interacted with students and staff, sharing positive messages and emphasizing the importance of reaching out and offering support to those in need. Around 20 NSS volunteers actively participated in organizing and executing the program, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty, fostering an atmosphere of understanding and unity.

The smooth and efficient execution of the program was ensured by the leadership of the NSS Volunteer Secretaries, Harikrishnan K (S5, ME Dept), Alanteena C A (S5, EEE Dept), Godwin C Baiju (S5, ME Dept), Sonu Sunny (S5, ME Dept), Rashmi V R (S5, ECE Dept), Manu K M (S5, EEE Dept), and Anamika Sebastian (S5, ECE Dept)

The program was effectively coordinated under the guidance of Mr. Rajesh S K (NSS Programme Officer and Asso Prof, EEE Dept) and Mr. Ranjith E R (NSS Programme Officer and Asst Prof, ME Dept).

The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending hearty appreciations to NSS Units on this significant initiative  that raises awareness about mental health  and promote a culture of understanding, empathy, and collective support within the campus community.
