Vidya NSS Units celebrate NSS Day with a visit to Ashraya Bhavan

The NSS at Vidya conducts various programs with a focus on social engagement and community service. The primary aim of these initiatives is to bring joy and companionship to the elderly while fostering a sense of empathy and social responsibility among the volunteers. On the occasion of NSS Day, Vidya NSS Units organized a visit to the old age home ‘Ashraya Bhavan,’ Nadathara, on 24 September 2025 to celebrate and engage with the senior residents.

During the visit, 20 enthusiastic volunteers actively engaged with the residents through various cultural programs, including singing, dancing, and storytelling sessions. These performances not only entertained the residents but also encouraged interaction and strengthened emotional bonds. The volunteers also spent time conversing with the elderly, listening to their experiences, and sharing personal stories, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.

In addition to the cultural activities, the volunteers distributed fruits, essential groceries, and other necessary supplies to support the daily needs of the residents. The items were thoughtfully arranged and personally handed over, ensuring dignity and care in the distribution process.

The initiative was successfully led by the NSS Volunteer Secretaries: Harikrishnan K (S5 ME), Godwin C Baiju (S5 ME), Sonu Sunny (S5 ME), Rashmi V R (S5 ECE), and Niranjan Agnivesh (S5 ME). Their dedication, careful planning, and organizational skills ensured the program ran smoothly and efficiently.

The program was coordinated under the guidance of Ms Delmy David V (NSS Program Officer,  Asst Prof, CSE  Dept) and Ms Anu Maria Antony (NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof, CE Dept), whose support and encouragement were instrumental in the success of the initiative.

The NSS Day visit to Ashraya Bhavan was a meaningful engagement for both the elderly residents and the volunteers.

The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending heartiest appreciation to all the NSS Units on this heartwarming effort  that spreads happiness, companionship, and emotional support to the elderly residents of Ashraya Bhavan and fosters a sense of empathy, cand social responsibility among NSS volunteers !!!
