From the ARCNET Desk : Where Innovation Meets Victory
ARCNET is an offline Bluetooth Mesh–based emergency communication system designed to function without internet or cellular networks, using BLE advertising and scanning to create a multi-hop mesh network that propagates messages across devices during infrastructure failure. The app is built in Jetpack Compose with a foreground BLE service that keeps the mesh active during disaster scenarios, while user presence (Bluetooth ON/OFF state) is synchronized through Firebase Firestore for real-time monitoring. A dedicated Admin Dashboard enables verified admin users to broadcast alerts, view connected users, and send SMS fallback messages to offline users.
The system integrates a cloud-hosted Disaster Prediction API powered by a machine-learning model that estimates cyclone and flood risk based on live GPS coordinates. A background WorkManager task periodically retrieves updated predictions and triggers emergency notifications when necessary. Secure authentication is implemented with Firebase Auth, including login-attempt tracking and password-reset prompts after repeated failures. ARCNET combines Bluetooth Mesh networking, cloud ML inference, real-time Firestore synchronization, and offline-first design to provide resilient communication during disasters.
Steering Innovation to Victory

The project’s success was greatly strengthened by the wholehearted support and encouragement of Dr. Sunitha C (Principal), whose expertise and guidance were instrumental in shaping its quality. The faculty mentors provided invaluable guidance, with special appreciation to Ms. Thulasi K Rajan (Asst. Prof, CSE Dept) for her exceptional coordination and support throughout the project. As the SIH SPOC (Single Point of Contact), Ms. Thulasi ensured that all processes, from the beginning to the end, were smoothly managed and executed efficiently.
The News & Events Editorial Team joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending heartiest congratulations to Gokul,Vidhu,Vipul,Yadhukrishnan,Aysha and Devinandha on this outstanding feat that fosters a culture of innovation and problem-solving and scalable and sustainable Solutions !!!
