Shaping Ideas into Activity-Oriented Brainstorming Sessions by VSEC

To strengthen student leadership and foster collaborative planning by transforming ideas into structured, actionable, and community-focused programmes, the Vidya Social Empowerment Center (VSEC), an initiative of the Vidya International Charitable Trust, conducts several socially impactful activities.

VSEC conducted a comprehensive Brainstorming Session titled “Shaping Ideas into Activity-Oriented Sessions” on 6 December 2025 at VAST, with the objective of strengthening student leadership and designing structured, community-focused initiatives for the upcoming academic year.

The programme brought together 17 active student members and four faculty coordinators, namely Dr. Siju K. C (Head, VSEC and Asso. Prof, AS Dept), Mr. Santumon S. D (VSEC Member, Asst Prof, ECE  Dept), Ms. Akhila R (SAP Representative, Asst Prof – Sr Grade , EEE  Dept) and Ms. Surabhi M. S (VSEC Member, Asst Librarian)ensuring meaningful collaboration between faculty and students. The session was jointly coordinated by Dr. Siju K. C.and Mr. Suraj Krishna K.(S3, CSE Dept) who served as the student coordinator.

The primary focus of the session was to conceptualize and develop actionable, impact-driven programmes aligned with VSEC’s mission of social empowerment, community upliftment, and structured capability building. To achieve this, participants were divided into four task-oriented groups, each assigned to conceptualize and draft programme modules under the following domains:

  • SOS outreach and intervention programmes

  • School engagement and awareness sessions

  • Training and skill-development programmers

  • Programmes targeting colleges and parent communities

Each group worked collaboratively to design practical, scalable, and socially relevant activity frameworks, emphasizing structured planning and measurable outcomes.

Following the group discussions, each team presented its proposed activity blueprint before a faculty panel. These presentations served as an effective incubation platform for experiential learning, enabling students to:

  • Enhance communication and executive presentation skills

  • Develop confidence and clarity in public speaking

  • Address stage anxiety through structured exposure

  • Understand the process of designing and delivering outcome-oriented programmes

The faculty panel offered constructive feedback and actionable suggestions, guiding students in refining their proposals and aligning them more closely with VSEC’s operational vision and community objectives.

All faculty coordinators actively contributed to the discussions by sharing insights on:

  • The operational mandate and long-term vision of VSEC

  • Best practices for implementing socially impactful outreach initiatives

  • Frameworks for designing meaningful and sustainable engagement strategies

  • The transformative role of school-based, SOS-focused, and parent-oriented programmes

These interactions provided students with strategic clarity and a deeper understanding of the societal value and responsibility embedded in VSEC activities.

The session concluded as a highly productive and collaborative engagement, marked by enthusiastic student participation and strong faculty leadership. It resulted in the formulation of a clear operational roadmap for VSEC’s upcoming outreach initiatives. A brief tea break facilitated informal interaction and further collaboration, reinforcing the spirit of teamwork and shared vision.

The Editorial Team of News & Events joins the entire Vidya fraternity in extending hearty appreciations to VSEC on the successful conduct of the session that  equips students with the skills required to design impactful outreach initiatives  with VSEC’s vision of social empowerment and sustainable community engagement !!!
