ME Dept conducts FDP on ‘Sustainable Engineering and Decarbonization Strategies for Net Zero’

The Department of Mechanical Engineering equips faculty members, research scholars, and industry professionals with advanced knowledge and practical strategies in sustainable engineering through various initiatives.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with ISTE, IE(I) and IQAC VAST, successfully conducted a six-day online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Sustainable Engineering and Decarbonization Strategies for Net Zero’ from 23–28 February 2026.

The FDP was inaugurated by Mr M Chandradathan (Padma Shri awardee and Mentor (Science) to the Chief Minister) whose keynote address inspired the participants.  Dr. Sunitha C (Principal) presided over the function.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, research scholars, PG students, and industry professionals. Expert sessions over six days addressed key themes including climate change impacts, energy auditing, microbial carbon capture, sustainable materials, circular economy frameworks, nature-based solutions, and institutional pathways to carbon neutrality.
