CE Dept conducts insightful talk on Civil Engineering Career Opportunities

With an aim to provide valuable insights into various job prospects in both the private and public sectors,  the Dept of civil engineering a session on 28 September 2024 . 

A highly insightful talk was delivered by Mr Navaneeth (Director Operations, CS Innovate Solutions)  on the topic of ‘Civil Engineering Career Opportunities’ to an audience of aspiring civil engineering students and their parents.

Mr. Navaneeth discussed how various government departments such as Public Works Departments (PWD), National Highway Authorities, and urban development bodies are constantly in need of civil engineers to oversee projects related to roads, bridges, dams, and public buildings. Opportunities in PSUs such as NTPC, BHEL, and GAIL were also highlighted, where civil engineers are needed to plan, design, and maintain facilities.Mr. Navaneeth shared private construction companies and infrastructure development firms are always on the lookout for skilled civil engineers to manage large-scale commercial, residential, and industrial projects.

One of the key takeaways from Mr. Navaneeth’s talk was the emphasis on the importance of software tools for civil engineers. He explained that the use of advanced softwares like AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, Revit and Primavera is now integral to most civil engineering projects, and mastering these tools would give students a competitive edge in the job market. Mr. Navaneeth concluded his talk by advising students to stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in civil engineering and to continuously improve their technical skills. Later on there was an interactive Q&A, where students and parents had the opportunity to clarify their doubts and gain additional guidance.
