CSE Dept organizes “Futureproofing”
The Dept of CSE identifies the importance of focussing on the concept of Futureproofing—preparing individuals and professionals for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
Mr Sankar handled the session on Futureproofing on 27 November 2024 The program began with a welcome speech by Dr Sunitha C (HoD, CSE Dept). Dr. Sunitha extended a warm welcome to all participants and introduced Mr. Sankar as the key speaker. She emphasized the significance of the topic in today’s fast-evolving world, highlighting VAST’s commitment to empowering students with future-ready skills. The intended participants were students from the 2024-28 CSE batch, and approximately 170 students attended the session.Following the welcome,Mr. Sankar took the stage to deliver his keynote address on “Futureproofing”.
His talk covered several key themes. He discussed how advancements in technology, especially in Computer Science and engineering, automation, and AI, are reshaping industries. He emphasized the need to stay current with these technologies to remain competitive in the job market.. He urged the audience to adopt a mindset of lifelong learning, which is crucial for adapting to changes in both the job market and technology. Drawing from his career counselling experience, Mr. Sankar offered practical advice on career planning. He provided insights into making well-informed decisions about career choices. He concluded his address by focusing on the importance of soft skills such as emotional intelligence, resilience, and adaptability, which play a critical role in overcoming career challenges and navigating an uncertain future.
After the program, a question-and-answer session was held, where Mr. Sankar addressed various queries from the audience, providing further insights and clarifications on the topics discussed. Following the interactive session, feedback was collected from the students to gather their thoughts on the talk and assess its impact. The feedback highlighted the relevance and usefulness of the session, with many students expressing appreciation for the valuable career guidance and practical advice shared during the event.
The event was successfully coordinated by Ms. Thulasi Rajan K (Asst Prof, CSE Dept) and Ms Mithu Varghese, (Asst Prof, CSE Dept) . Their efficient handling of the event logistics ensured a smooth experience for all attendees.
At the end of the session, Ms. Thulasi Rajan K (Asst Prof, CSE Dept) expressed gratitude to Mr. Sankar for his insightful and thought-provoking address. She also thanked Dr. Sunitha C and all attendees for their participation. Special thanks were extended to the organizing team and volunteers for their support.
