Vidya NSS organizes Onam Kit Distribution Program in Velur Panchayath
With an aim to extend the spirit of Onam beyond the festival days by spreading joy, care and a sense of togetherness among the underprivileged sections of society, the NSS team of Vidya organized an Onam Kit Distribution Program for deserving families in Velur Panchayath on 29 August 2025, as part of its ongoing social service activities.
Objectives of the Program:

To support economically disadvantaged families by providing essential Onam kits.

To share the festive spirit of Onam with those unable to celebrate due to financial constraints.

To encourage NSS volunteers and students to actively contribute to community welfare and social responsibility.
The distribution program was carried out with great enthusiasm and coordination by the NSS volunteers. Each Onam kit included essential household items to help families prepare a festive meal and celebrate with dignity.

Each Onam kit was valued at approximately Rs. 1200.

Kits included groceries and basic items necessary for Onam celebrations, such as rice, pulses, sugar, oil, spices, and other household necessities.

All items were contributed by Vidya NSS volunteers and students, reflecting their strong commitment to social service and community care.
The program was successfully executed under the enthusiastic leadership of the NSS Volunteer Secretaries: Harikrishnan K (S5, ME Dept), Alanteena C A (S5, EEE), Godwin C Baiju (S5 ME), Sonu Sunny (S5 ME), Rashmi V R (S5 ECE), Manu K M (S5 EEE), and Anamika Sebastian (S5 ECE). It was further coordinated under the guidance of faculty members: Rajesh S K (NSS Program Officer, Asst. Prof., EEE Dept), Ranjith E R (NSS Program Officer, Asst. Prof., ME Dept), Delmy David V (NSS Program Officer, Asst. Prof., CSE Dept), and Anu Maria Antony (NSS Program Officer, Asst. Prof., CE Dept).
During the event, the NSS Programme Officers, along with the Volunteer Secretaries, personally handed over the Onam kits to the families, ensuring meaningful interaction and direct engagement.
