Independence Day Celebration

Commemorating India’s Independence Day, the NSS Unit of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology held a Flag Hoisting Ceremony on 15th August 2025, radiating patriotic fervour and reaffirming the community’s commitment to unity and national service

The program commenced at 9:00 AM and concluded by 9:30 AM, following a well-structured schedule as detailed below:

• The ceremony began with the Anchoring by Rashmi V R (S5, ECE Dept) who introduced the sequence of the program and welcomed the gathering of students, faculty, and staff.
• This was followed by a melodious rendering of the Manavageetham by Alanteena C A (S5, EEE  Dept) which set an inspiring and patriotic tone for the event.
• The Welcome Speech was delivered by Sonu Sunny (S5, ME Dept), emphasizing the significance of Independence Day and the role of youth in nation-building.
• The Command for the flag hoisting was given by Aswin Prakash, marking the start of the formal proceedings.
• The National Flag was hoisted by Mr. Ranjith E R (NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof, ME Dept)  accompanied by the singing of “Vande Mataram” by all present, evoking feelings of pride and unity. After the flag hoisting, Mr. Ranjith delivered the Independence Day Address, reflecting on India’s journey to freedom and the responsibilities of every citizen in preserving democratic values.
• The Program Officer’s Address was delivered by Ms. Delmy David V (NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof,CSE Dept) who motivated the volunteers to contribute actively to community welfare and uphold the spirit of service and patriotism.
• To promote communal harmony and respect for all faiths, the program included readings from various scriptures:
  • Gita – Harikrishnan K
  • Bible – Godwin C Baiju
  • Quran – Hashim Hameed
• The program continued with the Thought of the Day by Niranjan, encouraging everyone to reflect on the values of freedom, unity, and service.
• The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, sung by all participants with deep reverence and pride.

The flag hoisting ceremony was a successful and inspiring event that reinforced the values of patriotism, unity in diversity, and social responsibility among the students and faculty members. It was organized under the able guidance of Mr. Ranjith E R (NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof, ME Dept) and Ms. Delmy David V (NSS Program Officer, Asst Prof,CSE Dept) and executed with the active participation of the volunteers.

The NSS Unit of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology continues to uphold such meaningful traditions, promoting national pride and the spirit of community service.
