NSS promotes wildlife and cleanliness through art at Pudukad Railway Station

As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) initiative, the NSS units of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), Thrissur, conducted a cleanliness and awareness programme at Pudukad Railway Station. The activity was jointly organized with the Chimmony Wildlife Sanctuary under the Peechi Wildlife Division. The programme aimed to promote cleanliness, environmental conservation, and public awareness on wildlife protection.

NSS volunteers actively contributed to improving the appearance and environment of the railway station. Key activities included:

• Cleaning the station premises.

• Painting vibrant wildlife-themed murals on the station walls.

• Spreading awareness among passengers and local residents about cleanliness and wildlife conservation.

These efforts significantly enhanced the visual appeal of the station and communicated an important message on maintaining hygienic and eco-friendly surroundings.

The event was inaugurated in the presence of several distinguished dignitaries, including  Mr K. K. Ramachandran (Hon’ble Pudukad MLA), Mr K. M. Baburaj (Pudukad Panchayath President) , Mr V. K. Renjith (Peechi Wildlife Warden), Mr Paul Maneesh (TI TCR),  Ms  K. K. Ananthalakshmi (Station Superintendent of Pudukad) , Mr K. K. Sajeevan (Ward Member), Mr. Arun K. L (Passenger Association Secretary)  and Mr Mohammed Raphy (Assistant Warden,Chimmony Wildlife Sanctuary)

A total of 20 NSS volunteers took part in the programme. They collaborated with forest officials and members of the local community, demonstrating teamwork, dedication, and a spirit of social responsibility.

The programme was led by the NSS Volunteer Secretaries: Harikrishnan K (S5, ME Dept ) Alanteena C A (S5, EEE Dept) Godwin C Baiju (S5, ME Dept) The overall coordination was effectively handled by  Mr. Ranjith E R (NSS Program Officer,  Asst Prof, ME Dept).His guidance ensured the smooth and successful execution of the event.

The SHS cleanliness and awareness programme at Pudukad Railway Station was a meaningful initiative that successfully combined environmental action with creative awareness-building.
