Constitution Day 2025 Winners explored SDGs and Education for a Better India
Vidya actively promotes awareness among students on the interlinkage between constitutional values, social equity, and sustainable development through various student-centric activities.
As part of the Constitution Day Observance, an Essay Writing Competition was organized on 04 December 2025 by Vidya Central Library in Association with ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education) organized with the theme “Constitutional Rights, Health, and Education: Leveraging Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to Address Poverty in India through Better Engineering Education”. Mr. Girish Kumar P. C. (Librarian) addressed the gathering before the commencement of the event and underlined the contribution of libraries in strengthening the Right to Education and public health literacy.
The event encouraged participants to critically examine how fundamental rights guaranteed by the Indian Constitution, particularly the right to education and the right to health, play a crucial role in poverty alleviation.Students highlighted the relevance of Sustainable Development Goals especially SDG 4 (Quality Education)—in shaping inclusive national development strategies.
Special emphasis was placed on the role of engineering education in fostering innovation, social responsibility, and technological solutions that address real-world challenges faced by marginalized communities.The essays reflected thoughtful perspectives on how ethically grounded and socially conscious engineers can contribute to nation-building while upholding constitutional principles.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, showcasing their analytical skills, creativity, and awareness of contemporary socio-economic issues. The event successfully reinforced the spirit of the Constitution by promoting critical thinking, civic responsibility, and sustainable development consciousness among future professionals.
The event was led by Mr. Girish Kumar P. C. (Librarian), with coordination support from Ms. Surabhi M. S. (Asst Librarian),Mr. Aneesh M. A (Library Attendant) and Mr. K. Vijayanarayanan (Library Attendant).Mr. Sarath Babu Ramachandran (ISTE Secretary, Asst Prof, ME Dept) provided invaluable support to ensure the smooth conduct of the competition.
The Essay Writing Competition thus served as a meaningful academic initiative under the Constitution Day celebrations, aligning constitutional ideals with global development goals and the transformative power of education.
