Vidya Excellence Day 2017
Vidya Excellence Day 2017 was celebrated on 13th May 2017 from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm to honour the achievers in the events organised by the college. As part of the celebrations, the college had arranged a host of programmes in the forenoon and afternoon sessions.The Scholarship and Endowment prize distribution function was organised in the forenoon session.Padmasree Dr. M. Chandradathan, Scientific Advisor to the Chief Minister of Kerala and former director VSSC, Mr. Arun Bhaskar, Senior Executive Vice President, Reliance Industries, Mumbai and Mr. Mujeeb Rehman (Sub Judge, DLSA Secretary, Thrissur) were among the prominent guests who attended the function.
The programme started with a prayer. Dr. Sudha Balagopalan (Principal, VAST) welcomed the gathering and Mr. Sudhakaran Polassery (Chairman, VICT) delivered the presidential address where he briefed about the history of the Trust and its achievements.Chairman specially thanked Mr. A. P. Sadanandan (Convenor, Scholarship Committee) for selecting the scholarship awardees. He also thanked all other delegates who attended the function especially Dr. C. E Krishanan (former HoD, ME, VAST), Mr. Prakasan Natesan (Former Executive member, VICT), Mr. C. K. Jayarajan ( Author Trustee, VICT and Member, Governing Body, VAST) and Er. P.K Asokan (Chief Patron, VICT) In his inaugural address Padmasree Dr. M. Chandradathan stressed upon the need for quality education to the Parents and Students without which he said a country would lead to destruction. He advised the students to work towards making India a developed country than a developing country. He also focussed on the need for a strong interaction between parents and teachers.Mr. Arun Bhaskar (Senior Executive Vice President, Reliance Industries) deliberated about the economic scenario of the country and sectors like automobile, telecom, infrastructure industries and IT where quality technical education has shown a difference in the outcome and performance. He pointed out that due to several positive reforms in the field of education and agriculture, our country is today one among the fastest growing economies in the world.Mr. Mujeeb Rehman( Sub Judge, DLSA Secretary, Thrissur) addressed the need for social values and cautioned on the use of mobile phones by young children.Er. G. Mohananchandran(Executive Director, VICT) briefed about the various scholarships and endowment schemes. The scholarships and endowments were distributed by the distinguished guests and endowers. Dr. Jayaraman .V, HoD ME, proposed the vote of thanks.
