Sameeksha, the Trainers Club of Vidya, organised a 9-day Induction Programme for B. Tech. freshers of 2017 during 29 July – 06 August 2017.
The inauguration of the programme was held on 29 July 2017. Dr Latha Raj, Director, Students Welfare and Social Projects welcomed all to the session. Principal, Dr Sudha Balagopalan inaugurated the session. Er. G Mohanachandran, Executive Director, VICT, and Dr V N Krishnachandran, Vice Principal and HOD, MCA, delivered the felicitations. Ms Divya Radhakrishnan, Joint Convenor, Sameeksha and Assistant Professor, Humanities, delivered the vote of thanks.
The freshers were divided in three groups. The first group consisted of students of PE, EEE and ECE branches. The second group consisted of students from ME and CE (one batch) branches and the third from CSE and CE (one batch) branches. Each group was then subdivided into three batches.
Resource persons and topics
The sessions were handled by faculty and staff from various departments: Dr. Latha Raj, Col. M.P Induchudan (Retd) (CSE), Prof. Jiby Jose (AS), Prof. Dileep K (PE), Mr Hareesh K (ME), Mr Alex Chacko (ME), Ms Nitha K P (CSE), Ms Akhila R (EEE), Mr Vinodkumar (ME), Ms Swapna E V M (ECE), Mr Bevin K C (EEE), Ms Vasuda (EEE), Ms Beena M V (CSE), Mr Anil Paul (ME) and Ms Renuka (EEE). The topics discussed included adolescent issues, exploring one’s potential, nonverbal communication, leadership and team building, goal setting and time management, stress management, lateral thinking, cyber issues and social manners and ethics.
There were also two external resource persons. Dr Sumesh delivered a session on drug abuse. Mr Haseeb took a session on “Breaking into the inner world.”
All the sessions were well accepted by the students.
