The PE Dept of the College organisd a two-day workshop on Industrial Automation, named BITS (Bringing Industries To Students), for the final year B Tech students of ECE, EEE, ME and PE Depts of the College on 30-31.01.2018. The programme had been organised jointly with Z’ Aksis Technological Solutions, Coimbatore. As many as 47 students participated in the workshop each paying a fee of Rs.1500 which covered participation fee, expenses for certificate, membership card, workshop kit, and food and refreshments.
The workshop was inaugurated by Er G Mohanachandran, Executive Director, VICT. Dr SudhaBalagopalan, Principal, presided over the inaugural function. Dr N Ramachandran (HoD, ME Dept) and Prof Dileep K (HoD, PE Dept) made felicitation speeches on the occasion. Er Nasif, Coordinator, BITS, explained briefly about the importance and contents of the workshop.
The activities of the first day covered the basics of relay systems, circuit making, PLC training, working and controls of pneumatic cylinders. During the second day, the participants worked on different automated machines and the software for automation. Velocity linked sealing machine, 3 arms robot, pick and place machine, PLC operated machines and SCADA controlling were illustrated directly and individually for each student.
In the concluding session of the workshop, a cultural programme was held with participation from both trainers and participants.
