Sargaa and VSSC jointly celebrate Women’s Day

Sargaa, the women’s club of Vidya and Vidya Students Support Cell (VSSC) jointly organized a programme in the College on 23.03.2018 to celebrate International Women’s Day 2018. Traditionally, the 8th of March of every year is celebrated as  International Women’s Day. It is a day to pay tributes to every woman and to salute her immense contributions in shaping the society. The theme for the International Women’s Day 2018 was “Press for Progress”.

The Chief Guest for the celebrations on 23 .03.2018 in the College was Dr. D Sheela, Principal, Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College, Ollur. Around 500 girl students of the College participated in the programme.

Principal Dr Sudha Balagopalan welcomed everyone to the session. Dr. Latha Raj, Director, Students Welfare and Social Projects, introduced the guest. Following this, Dr. D. Sheela took over the session. She filled the hearts of the audience through her very cheerful and light minded conversation. At the same time she said that it was painful to note the increasing number of professionally educated housewives in Kerala. This is a great loss both on the personal front as well as for the society. Dr. D Sheela also stressed the need for personal hygiene for women. She gave an overview of the health issues women may have to face if they do not take good care of themselves.

Dr Sudha Balagopalan presented the memento to the Chief Guest, Dr. D. Sheela. The programme came to an end with vote of thanks by Ms Divya Radhakrishnan, Assistant Professor, Humanities and Joint Convenor, Sargaa.
