Orientation Programme for MCA freshers

The MCA Dept of the College organised an Orientation Programme for the newly admitted MCA students on 2 August 2019. Students have been admitted to the first semester MCA under the regular three year programme and to the third semester MCA under the lateral entry scheme. All the newly admittd MCA students and their parents participated in the Orientation Programme.

The Programme was conducted in two sessions.

The first session commenced at 9.30 am with an invocation. Dr V N Krishnachandran, Head of MCA Dept, welcomed the participants. He briefly dealt upon the history of the College, introduced the important functionaries of the College and also explained the importance of the Programme. Dr Saji C B, Principal, delivered the presidential talk. He inaugurated the academic activities of the 14th MCA batch of the College, the batch of students admitted in the academic year 2019-20, by lighting the traditional oil lamp. Dr Sudha Balagopalan, Dean-Academics and Dr K B M Namboothiripad, Visiting Professor, offered their felicitations. Ms Divya K M, a student of the 2019 MCA pass out batch and who has been offered a placement in Infosys Ltd offered a special felicitation to the newly admitted students. The first session came to an end with a vote of thanks by Ms Aparna S Balan (AP, MCA Dept).

The second session began after a brief break for refreshments.

The highlights of the second session were a talk by Mr Paul Chackola, Director of Training and Placement, a presentation on the College and the MCA Dept by Nasreen Mansoor and Athul Krishna, students of the current S3 MCA batch, a talk by Dr V N Krishnachandran on the rules and regulations of the College and a special talk by Tony Tom a student of 2019 pass out MCA batch. What made Tony and his talk memorable was the fact that he was an atypical student in the sense that he had severe academic setbacks in the first year of study (failing nine subjects out of a total of ten subjects) and had still succeeded in overcoming those setbacks to claim a degree at the end of the third year of the course.

The organisers had arranged lunch for all participants and transportation up to Kaiparambu as part of the Orientation Programme.
