Mapathon registration by NSS volunteers

The NSS units of Vidya conducted  a marathon  Open Street Map (OSM) registration  during 3 – 10 April 2020. It was mandatory for all volunteers who are studying in the second and third year classes to be involved with “mapathon” works. All the volunteers actively participated by registering into mapathon works. All were requested to conduct mapathon works for at least two hours thus ensuring that the volunteers do some work beneficial to the society even during a lockdown.

A mapathon is a coordinated mapping event. The public is invited to make online map improvements in their local area to improve coverage and to help disaster risk assessment and energy management. Mapathons use an online site for storing map data, for example, Google Maps and OpenStreetMap.
