Vidya’s IEDC offers technical support to webinar series on COVID-19 pandemic

An 18-day interdisciplinary academic webinar from 24 May to 10 June 2020 scheduled daily from 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm is underway discussing various topics under a broad theme of “Understanding Covid Pandemic”. The webinar is organised by Institute for Social and Ecological Studies, Kozhikode.

IEDC, Vidya, is an associate for this webinar series offering technical support in executing the online programme. The event is conducted daily on Google Meet platform and the proceedings are streamed live on YouTube simultaneously. Free and open source software suite OBS is used for coordinating the online sharing of video streams.

The precursor to the Webinar Series was held on 22 May 2020 at 09:00 pm. Dr C S Venkiteswaran, former Director, Institute of Taxation Studies, Thiruvananthapuram elaborated on the upcoming Webinar. The inaugural talk of the webinar series was on 24 May 2020 by Prof T K Nizar Ahmed, former Professor and Head, Dept of Philosophy, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit. Kalady. Over 250 participants have registered for the Webinar Series from different regions, comprising mostly of scholars from academic and research institutes. Some of the institutes to which speakers are associated include (a) IIT Delhi, (b) Govt Medical College, Pariyaram (c) Centre for Development Studies, Thiruvanathapuram, (d) Government College of Fine Arts, Thrissur, (e) Kerala Kalamandalam, Thrissur, (f) University of Calicut, (g) Kerala Higher Education Council, (h) MG University to name a few.
