University of Texas professor delivers a talk on “Artificial Intelligence: Global Opportunities” to Vidya students

In pursuance of Vidya’s efforts to provide opportunities to students to access luminaries in the global academic world, the Vidya Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Research (VCAIR) jointly with VAST Student AI Club  and ISTE and IE(I) VAST Student Chapters organised an extra-mural lecture by Prof Karl Ho, Political Scientist and Data Scientist, University of Texas at Dallas, USA, on the topic “Artificial Intelligence: Global Opportunities” on 20 October 2020 during 9.00 am to 10.30 am. All the faculty members and students of both the campuses of Vidya, Thrissur and Kilimanoor campuses, had been invited to participate in the programme. As many as 200 persons attended the lecture session.

Prof Karl Ho

Prof Karl Ho is a political scientist working at the intersection of data science and social science. His research interests span both domains of data analytics and political studies, with a regional focus on East Asia. The unifying theme of his  research is to use fast growing scientific methods, data-oriented research design and statistical computing to decipher and prescribe social and political problems. Areas of substantive topics include democratization, political economy, public policy and human rights. He pursues both data analytics and data modeling in building public goods, aiming at improving policies, governance and representation.
