Seventh volume of ME Dept’s annual magazine MEK’D released

The seventh volume of MEK’D, the annual magazine of the ME Dept of Vidya, was released in an online function held on 18 December 2020. The programme was attended by 443 participants including the students and faculty and staff members of Vidya.

Jishnu J, S7 B tech (ME A), welcomed the Chief Guest Mr Nishanth M.S, Head of Training, Bharti AXA Life Insurance, Mumbai, dignitaries, and participants. Principal Dr Saji C B delivered the presidential address. Dr N Ramachandran (Prof and head, ME Dept) congratulated the students for the excellent mode of the conduct of the launch. Mr Hareesh K (AP, ME Dept and Staff Editor, MEK’D) introduced the Chief Guest.

The chief guest Mr Nishanth M S launched the magazine through the virtual mode and delivered the keynote address. The emphasis of his speech was on the skill requirements of graduates from a corporate perspective. He explained the significance of skill requirements in the future as well as in the current situation: (i) creativity and innovation,  (ii) analytical thinking,  (iii) agility and, (iv) specialization. His presentation of the a case study on automotive industry growth in the pandemic period and the key segments of the market developments were well appreciated.  Dr Rakesh Hari (AP, ME dept and Staff Advisor, Mechanical Engg Association) felicitated the programme. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Magazine Student Editor Arjun Jayakrishnan (S7 B Tech ME A).
