Workshop on “Research & Advances In Optical Communications”

One Day Workshop on “Research & Advances In Optical Communications in association with VRC, IQAC-VAST” had been successfully organized by Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of Vidya Academy of Science & Technology on 5th  November 2022.The resource person of the course were from industry Er.T K Kuttappan,Consultant (Telecom NW & OPGW). Participants in the course were faculty, research scholars and students from ECE department.

The course is designed to draw the attention of young researchers, academicians and industry fraternity towards the latest research & development trends in the field of Advance Optical Communication Technologies.

Optical Communication Technologies is swiftly budding as a prominent research domain for realization of future generation high speed optical networks. The workshop is designed to endow with a balanced exposure of the major aspects of Fiber optics through theory classes with special emphasis on hands-on training and Practical experience on laboratories equipment. The training module also encompasses the demonstration on advanced tools, so as to give exposure to the participants who are interested in pursuing their research work in this area.

The course commenced with Inaugural Function with the benign presence of Head of ECE Department. In the first session of the course, a keynote Expert Lecture entitled ‘Optical Communication Networks’ was delivered by Resource Person. The lecture covered all the aspects related to the concerned with due emphasis to Optical, WDM Optical Communication technologies, SONET. The Hands on training in the afternoon session of day  was given with focus on optical system simulation using Optical Systems.

Finally the course was formally wrapped up with a Valedictory ceremony, in the presence of distinguished faculty members of ECE department. The chief guest of the function was the Head of ECE department, Dr.S Swapna Kumar.  Further, participants have shared their experiences and views about the course. The certificates of participation were distributed to the participants by the chief guest. The Workshop on “Advances In Optical Communications” was conducted successfully with abundant knowledge transfer and ample facilities.
