Curtain raiser of second edition of ‘ROOTS’
Vidya is privileged enough that every Vidyite believes in stimulating minds, improving their intellectual capacity and building characters which they treasure for their lifetime.
The much accepted scholarship scheme, ‘ROOTS’ instituted by the Alumni of the EEE Dept to nurture gifted and deserving students by assisting them financially, academically and professionally for a great future was established in the year 2022 for 2022-26 Batch B Tech EEE students. This scheme was propelled by the first four batches of EEE Alumni from 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 batches.The idea of this initiative is to assist aspiring Electrical and Electronics Engineering enthusiasts financially, academically and professionally to ensure a successful future. The beneficiaries of the scheme will definitely have a holistic improvement, especially in their career and character development.
The journey to this honest venture was pretty elongated, with many hindrance but after myriad confronts, its finally coming to fruition with deep and victorious efforts of EEE alumni towards bringing this to reality with the support of members of staff in EEE Dept under the intense guidance of Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics & Professor in EEE Dept).
The curtain raiser of second edition of ‘ROOTS’ was held on 10 June 2023 at 7.00 pm – 8:00 pm in an online meeting. Mr Sabu Soumian (Chairman, VICT) attended as chief guest and released the brochure and logo.The logo was originally designed by Er Vibin and later on alterations were implemented that led to the current logo by Anjay Krishnan (S2, EEE Dept) who’s also a beneficiary of ‘ROOTS 1’.
Er Ajin Aravind (2003-2007 Batch) delivered welcome address. Dr Sudha Balagopalan gave an overview of the scholarship scheme with an ardent hope that the beneficiaries of the scheme will definitely have a holistic improvement, especially in their career and character development. Ms Mary P Varghese (HoD, EEE) appreciated this initiative and reminisced her experiences during the first edition of ‘ROOTS 1’. Mr Krishnakumar M (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) gave an idea about the scheme. Er. Aravind T (2004-2008 Batch) proposed vote of thanks . Ms Akhila R (Asst Prof, EEE Dept) led the session .
Er P K Asokan (Chief Patron, VICT), Mr Thilakan K K (Executive Committee Member, VICT), Er G Mohanachandran (Honorary Advisor, VICT) and Dr Saji C B (Principal) were also present to grace the occasion. Dr P Prathapchandran Nair (Professor Emeritus, VAST), Dr M N Agnisarman Namboothiri (former CSE HoD, VAST) , Dr T.N.P. Nambiar (former Senior Professor (PG), EEE Dept, VAST) Dr K B M Nambudiripad, (former Visiting Professor, ME Dept, VAST) addressed the audience and conveyed their best wishes that provided an inspiration to embark on this journey. The beneficiaries of ‘ROOTS 1’ (Ardra Shanmughan (S2, EEE Dept) and Anjana Krishna C R (S2, EEE Dept) were shared their experiences.
