School students prepare the building plan of their dream home in a workshop on ‘Dreamcraft
Plus Two students of Thrissur Vivekodayam School were extremely happy to have their own 2 room residential building plan.
The Dept of CE conducted a workshop on Dreamcraft-Building Tomorrow’s Home (Sketchup software) to the students of Vivekodayam Boys Higher Secondary School (V.B.H.S.S) VBHSS,Thrissur on 18 November 2023.42 students (12th grade) and two teachers participated in the workshop.The programme started at 10.30 am at PG Embedded Systems lab. The Inaugural function started by with Prayer recited by Aditya and Bhasura (S5, CE Dept) followed by welcome speech by Mr Kiran Babu A R (Asst Prof, CE Dept). The program was inaugurated by Dr Abhilasha P S (HoD, CE Dept) followed by her inaugural address.
The hands on training session was handled by Mr Renjith R (Asst Prof, CE Dept). Students were introduced to the software and the modelling of a two room residential building was done. A test was conducted to test the proficiency in software and evaluation was done by Ms Nirmala Krishnan, (Asst Prof, CE Dept).
The students were taken to Civil Engineering Department and various labs were visited followed by campus visit including Auditorium,Canteen,Hostel, Nakshathravanam and sports ground.
Dr Saji CB (Principal) distributed the participation certificates.The winner of the test Madhav M P from VBHSS Thrissur was honoured with a memento by Dr Saji CB (Principal) .The team was extremely happy to take with them the printed copy of the Residential Building that they had drawn with their name and name of their school printed on it.
Mr Pran K (HSST, Computer Science) and Ms Preeta M P (HSST, Computer Science) of Vivekodayam School, who coordinated the workshop, noted that the students harnessed the potential of the experience to inspire and nurture the skills of designers and architects. The workshop was organized under the leadership of Dr Anjali P S (Asso Prof, CE Dept), Ms Nirmala Krishnan (Asst Prof, CE Dept). and Mr Kiran Babu R (Asst Prof, CE Dept).
