Every year apperas with its challenges and wins. The year 2023 has been a mixed bag for everyone . The canvas of the year 2023 was tinted with vibrant moments and unforgettable memories for the entire fraternity of Vidya. The end of the year however is looking quite good and we are stepping into the new year with new expectations, new dreams and lots of blissful thoughts

Vidya student @ Republic Day Camp & ISTE Best Student Award
P Tarun Kumar (NSS Volunteer Secretary, S6, EEE Dept) attended the NSS Republic Day Camp from 1 Jan 2023 to 31 Jan 2023 at New Delhi with a great sense of excitement, zeal, and enthusiasm. It was with much pride and delight, Vidya received the news that, Kavya M Jayanthan (S8, EEE Dept) bestowed with ‘Best Student Award’ instituted by Indian Society for Technical Education (Kerala Chapter).
Vicennial Celebrations of Vidya
A milestone like Vidya’s successful completion of 20 years (2003-2023) of service in line with its vision “Progress Through Education” inspires the institution towards its future course of actions for accomplishing set targets.Vidya marked this auspicious occasion with a range of activities starting with the inaugural function of ‘Vicennial Celebrations’.Vidya’s “Growth Oriented Strategic Framework” was launched on the occasion,focusing on rising Vidya as a Centre of brilliance for Technical Education.The Vicennial Celebrations of Vidya was formally inaugurated by Dr B Ashok IAS (Principal Secretary & Agriculture Production Commissioner-Agriculture Development and Farmer’s Welfare Department,Govt. of Kerala, and the Vice Chancellor in Charge-Kerala Agricultural University).
Placement
Vidya with the support of Training & Placement Cell, takes a number of measures to provide our students with various opportunities for campus placement. APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University had notified the approved provisions for internships for the B. Tech students of the B. Tech 2019 regulations. Grabbing this opportunity with open arms two students Ciya Rose Joshy (S8, CSE Dept) and  Pooja M (S8, CSE Dept) grabbed internship with a placement offer with an annual package of Rs. 8 lakh per annum. Rosemol V S (S8, ME Dept), Megha Walter (S8, CE Dept) and   Kavitha A Menon (S8, ECE Dept), who got offer from CODEYOUNG with a starting annual package of Rs 7.3 lakhs and Visal K S (S8, CSE Dept) with a TCS Digital Placement with an annual package of around Rupees 7 lakh per annum stands among the crowd

Rajaram Reghuram (2019 – 23 Batch, CSE Dept) has scored a “perfect 10” SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) in S8 B Tech examinations by scoring “S” (Outstanding) grade in all subjects in the end semester examinations.

Abhishek S Nair (S6, EEE Dept) successfully participated in the rocket model competition organized by Ompsace Rocket and Exploration Pvt Ltd and bagged second prize for the rocket model.
Amalkrishna K J (S6, CE Dept) participated and made it to the top 31 students of India by participating in the Quarter Finals Round conducted in the month of January 2023
• Vidya touches the exemplary S8 result of CSE dept (14 students secured SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) 9 and above and a total of 26 students scored 8 and above SGPA in the end semester examinations.
Retired revenue inspector, Anita pursues Civil Engineering Degree @ Vidya
The inspiring story of Ms Anitha (S1, CE Dept), a committed government employee who embarked on a new educational journey after retiring, despite being 56 years old, Ms. Anitha, who previously worked as a teacher and later as a revenue inspector in the LSGD division of the Thrissur Corporation, made the bold decision to pursue a degree in engineering, adding yet another dimension to her already impressive career. Ms Anithas stories covered print and electronic medias as a testament to the power of ultimate learning and resilience

Scholarship and Endowment Bestowal Function 2023
To distinguish the exceptional merits and potential of younger minds, Scholarship and Endowment Bestowal Function 2023 was held on 30 September 2023. The function was attended by the esteemed dignitaries of VICT, and a host of eminent personalities. The presence of scholarship awardees and the endowment prize winners along with their parents added a zest to the function. A total of 128 scholarships and endowments to the newly selected students were distributed during the programme. Mr S Sreejith IPS (Addl. Director General of Police (ADGP) and Transport Commissioner, Kerala) graced the occasion as Chief guest with his inspiring words of insight.

Vidya considers EEE alumni to be our assets and ambassadors which was proved with the active participation of ROOTS which is a comprehensive scholarship scheme, instituted by the Alumni of the EEE Dept of Vidya to uphold the traditions and to raise the bar even upper for the vital benefit of engineering aspirants in EEE Dept. The names of winners of 10 ROOTS Scholarship 2023 were announced . Winners (Anjay Krishnan, Devika Santhosh, Anjana Krishna, Ardra Shanmukhan, Benhar Johny, Ann Maria Stephen, Emmanuel Joel, Krishna KB, Pranav PM, Rohan P R, Swathi Krishna P S and Veena TV) who are admitted in electrical program (2022-26 Batch) in Vidya were also honored with scholarships.
‘ADVIKA 2023’ Annual Athletic Meet 2023 and college day celebrated on a vibrant, festive note with a strong legacy
Intending to emphasize the creative talent of engineering minds in identifying and celebrating humanity, the Arts Festival held at Vidya was a showcase of students’ management skills, team spirit and camaraderie. The Dept of CSE emerged as the winners in both ‘Alpha’ and ‘Beta’ groups.Annual Athletic meet targeted the wholesome development of the students both physically and intellectually by means of organization and participation in the events. Abin Babu (S3, M.Tech, SE, CE Dept), Kavya P D (S7, ECE Dept) and Mariya Derby(S3, AIML Dept) were adjudged the position of ‘Individual Champions’ by securing 2 Individual gold medals.ECE Dept bagged first position in both Men & Women category

The two day technical extravaganza ‘Vyvidh 2K23’ organised by the students from all the branches of Vidya showcased technological amusements and placed the broad sketch out of Techfest

Vidya college magazine ‘VYOMA 2023’,meticulously crafted by the esteemed student editorial team comprising Akshay A U (S7 CE), Sinan Sulaiman (S5 ME), Anjay Krishnan (S3 EEE), Dhrishya Anil (S3 CSE), Gourylakshmi K J (S7 CE), Akshaya Sanoj (S3 CSE), Jeeva Haridasan Menon (S7 ECE), and Suraj Shaju (S5 EEE) with the guidance of Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Chief Editor and Dean, Academics) and Ms Surabhi M S (Asst Librarian) was released by Dr. Saji C B Principal in the presence of Heads of Depts . APJ AKTU Inter Collegiate Athletic Meet award ceremony 2023, was a magnificent moment that filled our heart with pride as the incredible Vidya Sports Team secured second runners up in both Men and Women Category. Vidya stands among the crowd with second runner up trophy in the overall point. Abin Babu (Athletic Team Captain) brought another Mile stone to Vidya by creating a New Meet Record and Gold medal in 1500 mtr followed by Silver medal by Vishnupreema in neck and neck fight and Bronze medal leaped up by Adarsh K P in Long Jump made the Inaugural Day eventful for Vidya .

IEEE Smart Village
• Vidya has been functioning as a Nodal Centre for IEEE Smart Village (ISV). The volunteers from Vidya perform their level best to achieve sustainable community development with the wholehearted support from Vidya staff members under the leadership of Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics & Professor, EEE Dept) who is also bestowed with the role as Lead – Vocational Awareness, ISV South Asia Working Group.

• Vidya achieved a significant milestone as a team of 14 students, along with Dr. Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics) and faculty member Santumon SD (Asst Prof Dept, ECE Dept), participated in the prestigious IEEE Smart Village (ISV) International Conference held at the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER) in Bhubaneswar. A team of students, including Sanjo P Rejin (S6, ECE Dept) (Lead), Sakthi S (S6, ECE Dept), Sinan Sulaiman (S4, ME), and Varundev A V (S4, ECE Dept) earned them a spot in the final round of the competition and another team, including Chaitra Prasad (S4, ECE Dept) (Lead), Gayathri Gireesh (S4, ECE Dept), Harikrishnan K S (S4, EEE Dept), and Gayathri Siva (S4, ECE Dept) had the privilege of presenting a poster presentation at the ISV conference. Seven teams from Vidya students presented their Project Ideas exemplary well at ‘IdeaRun: Pitch Your Idea’by IEEE Smart Village – South Asia Working Group
• Our committed students initially focused on providing hands-on sessions in “snap circuits” kits to children and students in the SOS Village, Mulayam. Currently Vidya has started initiatives in Thrissur, Tirunelveli (TN) and Bhubaneshwar (Orissa) with the student centre support and is supporting Mizoram, Assam, Maharashtra etc. via the national lead, Dr Sudha Balagopalan (Dean Academics, Lead, ISV South Asia Working Group). ISV is extending their attempts towards Odisha to provide a level playing field for children with respect to Vocational Awareness.

The winners Arav R Menon (Blooming Buds Bethania Marathamcode), Pranav C (Gurukulam Public School, Venginissery), Adithi V J (S.H.C.G.H.S.S Thrissur), Theertha Ajith (S.H.C.G.H.S.S Thrissur) and Bisna Breeze (Blooming Buds Bethania Marathamcode) were awarded with scholarships in the Scholarship and Endowment Bestowal Function 2023 held at Vidya.

Vidya is immensely proud that, every Vidyite deems in stimulating minds, improving intellectual capacity and molding characters which they value for their lifetime. They also attempt to inculcate social values and concern for others with various activities that include ‘ROOTS’ instituted by the Alumni of the EEE Dept to nurture gifted and deserving students by assisting them financially, academically and professionally for a great future., sponsoring full fee scholarship by CSE alumnus, donating oxygen cylinders and health-care kits to hospitals in Kerala in its fight against the intense Covid pandemic, food and protective kits to House Keeping and Security Staff in the college in their fight against Corona… just name a few.
Vidya provided a perfect space for all the alumni to rekindle the student in them and celebrate together christened ‘Thirike – 20 yon 27 August 2023 in Pranavam College Auditorium. The event also recognized the staff members who have reached milestones of service in supporting students and for their efforts to enhance the growth of institution.
